I've got to get around to playing this. I have it on PC, and have been itching to try it out. But, I have no hard disk space for it, so I'll have to finish up a couple a nearly finished games before I get around to installing it. (I actually downloaded it to an external drive already, just need to find space somewhere on the computer itself). Still, I've seen friends play it, and the combat looks quite fun, as does Hong Kong itself. The only thing I've heard is that it does slow down by the end, but there is apparently some good DLC, like Year of the Snake and Nightmare at North Point.
Also, for what it's worth, it's $4.99 for PC on Amazon right now, in case anyone is reading and wants it to kick off the new year. It seems the Steam sale ended a few hours ago. Also, based on what I've seen when friends played it, this is one of those games that's probably best played with a controller, as opposed to mouse/keyboard.
I saw a new game for "Free with Gold" games, that I had never heard of, so I decided to try it out yesterday. I've only played it so far for a few hours, but I feel confident that this game is going to be quite a bit of fun, for a "free" game; I wouldn't even mind paying for this game. If you don't have an XBOX, I read that it is only $7.00 on Steam.
"Sleeping Dogs" is sandbox game, set in Hong Kong. Your character is working for the police undercover, so he does both police and gang missions. The graphics may not be the best, but they are pretty good. The thing that makes this game stand out so far is the hand combat, which is actually a little hard for me, so far (maybe I missed a couple of things in the tutorial). But it's certainly fun: You can use combos when fighting, counter moves, even grabs and special moves, where you slam an enemy into highlighted objects nearby. My favorite so far, was slamming an enemies head into the top of an air conditioning unit, because a bunch of blood flew out after I did this!
To be fair, I haven't played this game enough to say how long it will keep you entertained, but I thought I'd go ahead and write an initial review, because, so far, it is my favorite "Free with Gold" game. The only negative thing I have to say so far, isn't really about the game itself, but if you don't have much room on your hard drive (I only have a 20GB hard drive) the game takes up about 6GB, I believe. So, I had to take off Battlefield 3 (because I didn't want to remove World of Tanks yet). We'll see how long I can go without playing Battlefield 3. lol Speaking of World of Tanks, I plan on playing it a little more before writing a review on this game; I have enjoyed playing it for a few days, but I stopped to play other things.
If I find that "Sleeping Dogs" is not as enjoyable as anticipated, I will add any comments to this review in the near future. I'll try to at least beat all the main missions, because at some point I'll have to remove it, due to limited hard drive space.

I've been spending a lot of time playing this game since I did the review; I suppose it is rather addictive. The hand combat is fun, but I'm still not very good at that. I'm better at driving. I really like the races, and sometimes just speeding around the city. I forgot to mention I also enjoy the radio stations you listen to in your vehicle.
