Job Interview

I have been without a job for quite sometime; but I'm going to be going to a group interview for a job at a public theater. For a janitorial/custodial job for 3rd Shift/Graveyard since I'm always up around that time anyways; it'd be perfect for me.

I don't do well when it comes to group interviews; but I plan to pray to see if it goes well. Any Encouragements anybody? Smile
Also; what should I do or say? Anyone have any experience in something like this kind of Interview before?

I've never done a group interview... I have no idea how they go! Sounds a bit strange to me.

Good luck. Try and have confidence in you, your answers and your capability, it'll help you look good Smile

Never had a group interview before. Good luck to you and I hope you will post up the experience because I am curious.

Just relax and don't try to impress. Answer questions as confidently as you can and focus on an answer to the question only - keep on topic all of the time with less said usually better. Dress well for the interview. Prepare by studying a little about the company. Just so you can get a feeling of who you will be having the group meeting with. Visualize yourself working for the company - try and picture in your mind what a working day will be like at the company. Arrive at least 30 minutes before the interview just in case you need to fill in some extra forms - but also so you can be relaxed instead of rushing to make the interview. There is usually literature about the company in the waiting area that you can check through. Plenty to learn.

Best of good luck. Smile

I just got done with the interview about two hours ago; It was wonderful.

There was 6 People in the Group Interview, 4 of them knew each other; go figure... lol
But instead of the Normal Routine for a Group Interview; The Employer did a Ice Breaker challenge, so he could get to know us more better, and each us a variety of questions; and had us later get in a group of two to find out more about our partner, qualities for the work environment; type of work they did; etc; but it was different than last time I went to a group interview; i was nervous but this felt way different and we got free SODA lol; and skittles.

But I'm pretty sure it went very well for me. I'd find out Monday if I got the job or not; than later April; depending on the Employer; If I can start sooner or not. It'd depend on him because hes training a group right now; than we'd be the next group.

This was the decision the employer said in a email to me.

" We had some tough decisions to make, and unfortunately, we do not have a position for you at this time."
the job position I applied for at the theater was custodial/cleaning. Just like the rest of the interviews; They all go south... -.-;

I was calm; relaxed and wasn't even nervous at all; I don't think employers like me cause I lack "NO" RECENT job experience. Which I can't even help anyways.

Sad to hear that you did not get offered a position but never know unless you try.

The thing is, there was 6 of them in the group interview, 5 of them knew each other from church, go to college and can't work full-year round which he said they were looking for, and there was 2 of us; that could work year round; plus that I live like 10 minutes away from the theater. Which I thought would give them a outlook to hire me even more, because of my availability. Which any employer would want someone who could work full-time, or even part-time without anything affecting their schedule. They do have flexability scheduling; But that's not the point.

It's still sad that I didn't get the job; But it's not nice for Employers to discriminate me because I don't have any recent job experience; which Employers frown upon; but HOW THE HELL, are you suppose to gain work experience if no one wants to train you?

I could volunteer; but I need to work; Volunteering can be temporary but you do gain experience; but no money which I need. I worked in my past; in jobs before so I have some experience; just no recent experience. .-.;

Sorry to hear Ryox, but maybe there's a better job waiting for you. You just have to keep at it.
