Indonesia: new phosacid capacity




IJordan Phosphate Mines Co. (JPMC) will supply some 680,000 tonnes of phosphate rock annually to a phosacid project, which may start operation in 2012. It is a US$200 million j-v of JPMC and the Indonesian state-owned fertilizer company Petrokimia Gresik to build a factory with a capacity for 200,000 tpa of phosphoric acid and 600,000 tpa of sulphuric acid, which will be used for NPK manufacture. Indonesia, the world's third- largest rice producer, wants to boost production of agricultural products after food prices rose, boosting inflation.
