7 years of Frihost

I'm happy to announce our 7th anniversary. Normally we celebrate this on the 27th April but as I might not have enough time tomorrow, this year it will be one day early.
To celebrate this, the bandwidth of all hosting accounts has been increased from 25GB to 35GB (apart from VPS1 unfortunately).
Also, 2 new secret (at least until they are discovered once someone reaches the minimum number of posts) ranks have been added. The first one already partially leaked, Frihost Knight. However the posts needed are still kept a secret and no it is not 15000. The second rank is both secret in number of posts and in name. The rank images are not optimal yet (I made the modifications myself) and might hence still change a bit.
The competitions will also be restarted, most likely in a good week. I will also try to find some competition manager or some other way to make sure the competitions don't get stalled again so much.
Finally the so-long-delayed Frihost game (called Frihost vs Evil Daddy) is now nearing completion. With nearing completion I mean the staff preview is almost finished. After some input from the staff, it shouldn't take too long to create most levels, a help/tutorial system and do some balancing. Then I'll release it as a beta to a select few users to help with some final balancing/adjustments before releasing the first (probably still crude) real version.

Many free hosts have come and gone but frihost still survives,and that is all down to the dedication and commitment from Bondings,with a little help from the moderating staff.

Thanks Vanilla. I did that on behalf of Evil Daddy. Evil Daddy is of course really our normal folks in Frihost's representative in the Staff Forum. We've been isolated for much too long. Treated like foreigners even when we've been around for many years. Hopefully Evil Daddy would be a key to better and greater communication with us. We can let go of the "us" and "them" mentality and make it "we" for everyone at Frihost staff and non-staff alike.

Seven years on the internet is equivalent to the life of the Roman Empire in the real world. This is no small feat. Happy birthday Frihost and a big congratulations to Bondings! And when I saw the upgrade to 35 GB of bandwidth, my eyes blew open. Back in 2005, a host with that much bandwidth with the features and reliability of Frihost would have required a very heavy monthly payment. It is amazing to see this free hosting business model has worked so well.
I'm definitely looking forward to the Frihost game. That should be fun.

wow great news.. was out of frihost for a month(took a vacation).. now m back to home town.. Very nice job guys, i have used tons of free hosting sites and this one by far is THE best! And not to mention, its also about the only one left that i know of. All the others have shut down or is experience difficulties due to attacks. Sorry i dont have the time any more to be on here much or post much but im still here and have been here for YEARS now. I love Frihost. I've been here around 4 years I think... But it's the best host I've come across yet! Managing my site is easy, FTP is easy, and my freedom is almost non-restrictive! I'm not forced to advertise for Frihost, which frankly still confuses me on how Frihost is funded, So far it's still unclear to me. Although I haven't dug super deep to find out. I think it's because I'm not forced to advertise that I do promote Frihost to other programmers i know. Frihost is GREAT!
