If I had only one vote to cast, I would vote for LittleBlackKitten's entry. It was interesting, structured very well and properly dealt with her own resolution (even if it was to resolve nothing!) and personal experiences.

There were two other entries that I also liked, in case we are allowed/expected to vote for more than one. However, I thought both the other ones I liked had a similar problem:

I really liked Bikerman's entry. I thought it was well-written and interesting. However, I am not sure whether I am sort of allowed to "vote" for it since I am not sure how far entries are allowed to steer from the topic. The topic, as I believed it to be, was to write about YOUR New Year's Resolution. His entry, while utilizing a GREAT style, didn't really talk about his own resolution, but rather was more general.

Likewise, deanhill's entry was great to read and was very well-thought out. It was very well-organized. I enjoyed the sort of 'guideline to making resolutions' and found it not only interesting but very well-developed. However, I have the same problem with his entry as I do with Bikerman's -- it doesn't seem to really focus around his own particular resolution or experience, etc.

Miss Dixy has a very good point as the description of the competition is:
Competition description
Describe your New Year's resolution(s). The most original/unique/interesting one wins the competition.

When I was preparing for the competition the day before, I did try to query it with Bondings in the General Chat Forum thread, but it must have been too late, as it had been over the weekend.

If the narrower version of the competition description is preferred by Bondings, i.e. original/unique/interesting then I vote for mathiaus. Initially his ideas did not look unique, but after reading through them, the presentation of his ideas were original/unique and interesting. Not only did he present his resolutions, but he also put a plan forward of how he is going to motivate himself to implement those. For someone who apparently is a really busy person, working on taking the marathon is an awesome project. I can just see him taking charge of marathons and re-designing how they are run in his community too. Smile

I also liked the way he set out his resolutions, going from general to specific. He writes well, and I only needed to read his presentation once and be entertained by it at the same time.

What resonates really well with me too and got me happy, is his New Year's resolution to:
Come back to Frihost. I miss this place and posting and all of the great members Smile Smile
That's a great one! I sincerely hope he could come back and perhaps work on the Health Forum so that all of us can keep up to date and be motivated by his diet/exercise/attitude make-overs.

I also liked LittleBlackKitten's No Resolution. Depending on whether the narrower description of the Competition will be applied. As there are no specifics regarding the No Resolution and how it is going to be implemented. It is more like an awesome biography and history in general about why there is "No Resolution". I think her and Bikerman's essays were more or less along the same theme, however Bikerman's is greater on specifics (albeit a little bit too short and impersonal - it lacked a personal touch) of not having New Year's resolutions. Must say however LittleBlackKitten I am blown away by your story, and really happy to hear that love seems to be one awesome motivator to carry on regardless! Sounds like stuff that would be perfect for motivational lectures and a best-seller book. Maybe you could be a millionaire by your forties? Smile

Quiting smoking, drinking and everything that is not in line with acquiring good health. I want to be wealthy too because there is a saying that goes like this, "Health is Wealth". I also hope that this be my best year ever since birth.

I have read them all but haven't got time to go through them individually, but i would give my vote to LittleBlackKitten,a very personal and honest account of why she will be making no resolutions.

Just a quick point - mine is just for fun and you shouldn't vote for it. I enter just to keep my writing skills turning over, but I don't want to actually enter the competitions - I simply post my entries for people's amusement.

I'm sorry for the delay. I don't have much time at the moment and I'll probably decide/announce the winner in a bit more than a week. So if anyone has any opinions about the entries, please post them.

I vote for LittleBlackKitten's essay. Very honest and realistic. The essay dramatized very well, with little funny antics, her very reasons of no resolution.

I've read them all, but do not have time to go through them individually, but I would give my voice to the Little Black Kitten a personal story and sincere why she does not make resolutions.

This sounds crazy but my last New Years Resolution was to remember the date of each day was as the year went on. I lasted about 16 days. This is my record for keeping a New Years Resolution.
