Spend the morning doing chores - MOT on the Van and oil-change on the bike.

Did it get through the MOT alright, what was the 's damage?
I'm assuming you're sensible and keep on top of maintenance, while I foolishly tend to get stung for a huge bill once a year and go skint for the following month Laughing

Failed on a track-rod end and ball-joint.
No major drama - I'll replace them tomorrow at a friends workshop - probably about 40 quid for the parts and a couple of hours to do the job....
Actually I'm terrible at maintenance. Tyres and brakes on the bike are checked religiously, but aside from that I tend to only do things when they are needed (ie normally when they break).
It isn't a sensible approach, but, hey, if I were sensible, as well as wise, virtuous, generous AND humble then people might get jealous..

40 quid plus the test fee yeah? Thats not bad at all, bonus you've got a mate with a workshop.
The best I have access to is a one man band grease monkey garage at the bottom of my hill. He's cool though and always phones first with any work I can do myself to save cash.
A couple of years ago my headlight bracket had broken badly and he did me a 5.00 'legal for as long as he needed to sign the MOT cert' job. It was a good bodge-it fix though and even passed again 12 months later.

ROFL, not suffering from a lack of self belief then! Laughing

LOL..
Fortunately I know the garage owner who does my MOTs for me. Nothing dodgy - he knows that I would never ask him to 'pass a fail', and he also knows I'd be damned annoyed if he overlooked something for a mate (I want to know if there is something wrong with my vehicle)*. It does mean I get a free re-test without leaving it at the garage to have the work done.

* On a couple of occasions he's let the car through with a minor fault - told me and been sure I would sort it quickly (we are talking of a blown indicator bulb and a cracked number plate - nothing dangerous) - but he can't even do that any more because, apparently, the new MOT regs are such that he now spends nearly twice as long on each MOT, and he lives in fear of a spot visit.
