Roleplaying blog Glossary




3.x - Refers to Dungeons & Dragons versions 3.0 and 3.5
CCG - Customizable Card Game (e.g. Magic the Gathering)
D# - Polyhedral die type; e.g. - d4 = 4-sided die, d20 = 20-sided die
D20 - May refer to a 20-sided die; also refers to the generic game system from Wizards of the Coast, based on the use of 20-sided dice to determine success/failure of most rolls
DM - Dungeon Master, the player running/refereeing the game in a fantasy game setting
DnD/D&D/DandD - Dungeons and Dragons; specifically the Dungeons & Dragons and Advanced Dungrons & Dragons games produced by TSR and Wizards of the Coast, but generically used to refer to roleplaying games in general
GM - Game Master, the player running/refereeing a game, from the West End Games rule sets
NPC (Non-Player Character) - All characters not controlled by a player
PC (Player Character) - a character controlled by a player
Storyteller[/b] - The player running/refereeing a game, generally in a storyteller type setting, like those from White Wolf Publishing
WEG - West End Games; roleplaying game publisher
WotC - Wizards of the Coast; roleplaying and CCG publisher; owner of the Dungeons & Dragons franchise

I like a good story but I definitely like a good fight Razz I've had some interesting characters in my run of playing 4th edition.
