So hey, I thought it would be a nice idea if any established filmmakers (don't worry, by established filmmaker, I really mean

'has filmed'

) out there could share any lessons they've learned from past mistakes or any general advice on what to avoid during the whole process.

It will be a quite useful resource for me, and anyone else expecting they can press the red button on a handycam and improv for 30 straight minutes in bad-lit near-darkness.

Well, I was experimenting with a couple of effects in Cinema 4D, and wanted to try to create something in a star shape, which had a gold/diamond texture to it, and here is what I came up with.

This was about three hours in Cinema 4D, and about 5 minutes in photoshop to add some text real quick. Let me know what you think.

premiere randomly flashes red while stuttering the video of the project...

files i'm editing are mpeg 2/ac3 audio, extension m2v.. from a jvc camcorder

does anyone have any ideas???

if not i'll leave it with the red spots, hopefully they dissapear when rendering.... the video is gonna be awesome, gonna post it soon for all of you!

Hi! I've been trying to learn movie making based on videos and pictures using Windows Movie Maker which I find is a really user-friendly software for a beginner to start with. But I'm starting to run out of ideas with the limited designs and standard templates of word animations and standard transitions available in the software. I've accumulated a collection of over 1500 fonts, which I've added to the gimp's list of fonts, but I couldn't find out how to add them to photoshop's fonts. I definitely don't want to add them to the windows font folder, because that would slow down my start up horribly as windows loaded all those fonts. How can I add more fonts to photoshop?
Sometimes having just the right font for the occasion makes all the difference.

I believe everyone has seen the movie Transformers? The graphics are very awesome, and very immersive, but, the question is, How did they do such a thing? I have done motion capture with games before so, my idea is that, they do the same thing, with motion capture scenes and whatnot, and then put that to the graphical Transfomers. Of course, that's just movement, the stunning graphics are also hard to explain. Anybody have any ideas?

I know that the best software on the market today for Graphics is obviously the Adobe Creative suite. Its made for designers of every type. But what about the others who don't use Adobe products, what else do you use. I have heard of Gimp and Paint.net but are there any other programs that have a good reputation. I know most have a HUGE learning curve. And what about another no-frills version of Adobe Premiere. Most video editors use all the top end stuff. Does anyone have program for video editing that they think excels this???

Did you noticed that a clip recorded with a normal camera (no matter how expensive it is) has a different feeling than those in cinema? The motion seems different....
Do you know any software that makes that feeling?
I want to make a project for my class (like "Minority report" http://imdb.com/title/tt0181689 )
And I would like to give the clip that movie feeling. It would be great if I could add that Steven Spielberg effect .

You've seen it time and time again: things in motion way way faster than they should be, seemingly zipping by. This is called time lapse photography and is accomplished by setting a camera up to take a frame over a predetermined period of time every few seconds or minutes. They're not easy to set up, but I actually have one in production that I will gladly post here upon its completion. I wanted to share with you my favorite time lapse though, so here it is:
