I've been seeing tons of youtube vids on this, plus tv material to. Why is being dark such a big deal? I'm brown myself, but never felt the need to lighten myself up.
[IMPORTANT] HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE?

Health and Beauty : [IMPORTANT] HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE?

how to survive a heart attack when alone?

since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing conscious what to do ?? do not panic, but start coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. a deep breath should be taken before each cough, the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. a breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. the squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. in this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital

- send to me by my friend woking as a emergency medic with dubai polcie department.

Health and Beauty : Paris Hilton - Do you think she is hot?

As a normal person, without the name or the fame is she attractive?

A lot of people say she is a skank which I think is a bit stupid because chances are she's better looking than anybody they will ever know or meet.

Her looks aren't anything outrageous but I still think she is attractive.

Oxycontin.. A miracle drug.

Health and Beauty : Oxycontin.. A miracle drug.

Here is the story... as you all knew i had been out of pain medication.. (well most of you knew)
I had went back to the dr. I'm back on oxycontin.
After taking hydrocodone for awhile, with minimum effects even at 20-30 MG of it, then getting back on the oxycontin.
I would have to say, this is a miracle drug.
It helps the pain WAY much more than anything has... well except for morphine.
It doesn't really get me too stoned.. I get a mild buzz but that's it.
the pain then with one little pill is controlled for 12 hours.
If you are in chronic pain and hydrocodone isn't helping... your dr. should prescribe this if you'll be on painkillers for a long time and the pain is everyday.
I love the fact i don't have to take a few to help. ...

<a href="http://www.frihost.com/forums/vt-95595.html" title="Oxycontin..
asking the asians: could you do without rice?

Health and Beauty : asking the asians: could you do without rice?

I've noticed a trend in diets/medical articles advising Asians to lessen their rice intake. I myself want to lose weight so I've been trying not to eat rice during dinner meals. And it's hard! See, I'm really used to rice with every meal. I'm also used to balancing the taste of my meat with the taste of rice.

(I don't know what the Western equivalent of rice in meals would be. Is there even one?)

Stats : 17 Replies

Medications and low sex drive

Health and Beauty : Medications and low sex drive

I'm currently taking Prozac, Lithium, and birth control daily (as well as Xanax as needed) for anxiety and depression. I've been on the medications maybe a little more than two years, but I have been experiencing an extremely low sex drive for the past year.
I know it is common that certain anti-depressants can cause this side-effect, but I have been on other medications in the past (Paxil, Zoloft) and this was never a problem.
Has anyone experienced the same side-effect with any of the same medications?

Stats : 11 Replies

Health and Beauty : Chinese Diet Tea

I've seen ads and claims about this amazing diet tea called Wu Long that is supposed to promote dramatic weight loss and other health benefits simply by drinking it. It does have caffeine, but I'm not sure what else is in this tea that makes it work.

Do You Take Vitamins?

Health and Beauty : Do You Take Vitamins?

I mean, I'm sure that everyone, at one point or another, has tried the little flintstones shaped multivitamins, but how many of us still continue with any sort of vitamin supplement?

They're not FDA approved, not so much because they're dangerous, but because any benefits they have are based, perhaps, on tenuous claims. Regardless, many people still take these little pills because they feel that hey, it might not help me, but it sure can't hurt. I, myself, take a few every day- one for B, and one for C. But how many of you guys out there regularly take vitamins? And similarly, how many of you think that these vitamins actually
do
anything?

Stats : 45 Replies

Health and Beauty : Why do we snore?

I generally don't snore. But my wife tells me that I do snore sometimes. She has noticed that I snore on the days when I am tired too much from day's work.

Does this in any way show that the people who snore on a daily basis are working hard/getting tired, or that at some point in life they were working hard when they picked up this habit.

Any experts around here?

Good herb for pain...

Health and Beauty : Good herb for pain...

Here is something I found.. my dad bought me some from a head shop close to my town with me with him... it's damn expensive... (from this store i got screwed over i think)
Here is what he bought me...
3 grams of kratom. 15X
I took a small amount. not sure maybe a half a teaspoon of it in very hot water.. put ice in it to cool it down chugged it all down even the little pieces of leaves.
I have a very high opiate tolerance... I can take around 30MG of hydrocodone and not feel hardly anything at all... and still have lots of pain.
that didn't do a whole lot at all.
so i get pissed because i was sore bad then... so i grabbed the rest and put it in a coffee filter put that in my tea maker... ...

Stats : 7 Replies

Health and Beauty : we can never be as beautiful as cats anyway

Whatever we try to do to ourselves, we can never be as beautiful as cats are even when they don't try to be beautiful. People are very ugly creatures, and even when they try to be beautiful, they don't succeed. It isn't worth it to try to catch up to cats that way when we can't. It's better to spend our time focusing on other things.

Stats : 5 Replies

Meditation

Health and Beauty : Meditation

I'd like to look into meditating but I'm not sure where to start - do any of you have any suggestions?

From time to time I would read things like how beneficial it is as far as balancing yourself with the every day stresses you encounter every day. Thing is though I don't know anyone personally that meditates. ...and when I mention it to people they just turn around and tell that they don't have time to waste on it.

I'd like to go give it a go but... I'm not sure which is the proper way, how long I should etc...

Stats : 3 Replies

Health and Beauty : WE ARE WHAT WE EAT

Choosing what to eat is no longer s easy as it once was. Our eating habits have changed, as has our way of life, and the fuel we need for our body is also deffrent. Traditional diet often have too much fat and too many calories for the 21st-century person. If we want to keep up with the hight pace of modern life, we had better learn to make the right choices about what and how we eat.
Stores offer all kinds of food and snacks and we have to make manu choices. When we choose what to buy and eat, we had better think wheather the food will give us the nutrienents we need.

Stats : 14 Replies

Health and Beauty : Jaw problem, what to eat?

Well as in the title, I have a small problem.
I had to yawn and then it got stuck (while it was wide open). My reflex was to shut it but I couldn't so I held it open with my hands. When finally I could close it I had an other problem. I't hurts to open it, i can open it a little so ik can put some soup in my mouth and rice with Peanut sauce but for the rest it is impossible to eat anything proper. Of course I can't keep this up for a week without having serious digestive problems and I have hunger all the time. So what can I "eat" without chewing and opening my mouth to wide but still filling my stomach with some sort of diet that is not unhealty. Anysuggestions are welcome.

Stats : 16 Replies

Health and Beauty : BI-POLAR AND YOU

I hate bipolar people that you really like and are awesome but then have their days when the f*ng monkey in their head flicks a f*ng switch at random and they're f*ng rude shitty people!!!!!!!!!!!! ESPECIALLY when you get romantically involved with a person whom you've known for years but not well enough to be aware of said monkey in their heads that on complete random switches them to hate on you, hit on all your bros mode for a day, then they're a complete angel for days, then the monkey flicks the switch again. And before you say it, believe me, it IS for no reason. Nothing done at all, everything dandy, nothing whatsoever. Which would make you a fucking sucker to be romantically involved with of course, which you tell them (in more words) so they completely freak and talk shit about you to your friends to try to turn them against you. When you really like this person, and REALLY want to still be friends with them cuz they're really cool and you've known them forever, its just that you cant be sex friends anymore cuz its hurting my head and hurting the friendships I have with my bros when they obviously like the attention & seem to flirt back. I want nothing more than to not be enemies and be friends still but they're making it impossible... I'm starting to wonderif I should even bother...

Vegan! Ahhhhhhh

Health and Beauty : Vegan! Ahhhhhhh

I have recently become a vegan for various reasons I don't want to talk about here. But, I am finding it very hard to find good food to eat these days and am considering giving up my believes for the sake of my health. Does anybody know of some good things vegans can eat?

Here's some of mine:
Pasta with tomato or pesto sauce
Bread
Potato (fried, baked, etc.)

More dieting...

Health and Beauty : More dieting...

I actually prefer not calling it dieting, it's just a change of eating habits. I could talk about this indefinitely, but I will limit myself to a few principles:

1. Keep the engine going.
Think of the body as a furnace that needs fuel often but not too much every time. Those of us who live in cold climates know what a stove needs for optimal results. It doesn't do much good if you let the fire burn out, leave it for hours and then chuck in a day's worth of logs. That's what I used to do to my body. No wonder things went the wrong way!

2. Stay off sugar during the week.
In Norway we have the concept of saturday candy, which is a little portion of sweets that the kids eat in front of the television on saturday evening. They look forward to it all week, and that time is the only time they get anything sweeter than bisquits and fruit. ...

Stats : 8 Replies

Braces Cutting My Lips...

Health and Beauty : Braces Cutting My Lips...

Hey, I'm fourteen and I just recently got braces (recently as in two days ago). The pressure's nearly gone, but they constantly cut away at my lips. The dentist gave strips of wax to put on the pointed parts of the metal things on my teeth to reduce friction but I haven't put them on yet. Why, you ask, am I being an idiot and not putting them on? Well I don't think I'm going to put them on every tooth every day, and so I don't want to get "hooked" on them (like I don't want to be uncomfortable without my sacred wax) without finding any other solution. Got anything?

Thanks

Stats : 10 Replies

Health and Beauty : Opiates.

I have a question about these...
I would like to know how long will it take for me to lose this MASSIVE tolerance my body has for them?
I am not "a pill popper"
but I was prescribed hydrocodone right?
norco's ... 10/325... take 2 every 4 hours... i did this it stopped helping so i moved up to taking 3.
then 3 and a half... with 2 soma's and I'd still hurt so bad I couldn't take it.. i wasn't even phased by it anymore.. then they moved me up to oxycontin. 40MG
that doesn't do anything to me now.
I ran out of it and it has been weeks.. I still have a tolerance to it.
I take hydrocodone while im out... and it doesn't even phase me or take the pain away..
what gives?

EDIT:
what sucks is.. ...

Stats : 1 Post

Health and Beauty : eat kidney???

So my parents brought me awhole wackload of various meats the other day, everything from pork chops, to liver, to deer steak, etc. And one of the bags was labelled 'kidney'! Now it's been a while since I've dealt with the black market n all... but I've never heard of anybody ever eating straight up kidney before! But what the heck I thawed it, fried it up and ate it. It wasnt the greatest tasting but it wasnt bad either.. kind of like liver but not really.. but it took me
no less than a day and a half to fully get the taste out of my mouth
no lie. Nevermind the smell out of my apartment. No amount of brushing or mouthwash was doing it! ...

Stats : 2 Replies

Health and Beauty : Allergies

How many of you suffer of allergies?

I have contact dermatitis, which isn't an allergy according to my doctor, but it causes skin irritation, little blisters and hurts, if I leave my skin too much time in contact of any kind of metal (excepting silver and gold), dust, and almost all kind of soap.

My mother told me that milk on my skin used to cause the same reaction, but I grown up and milk doesn't hurt my skin anymore.
Sleep Apnea

Health and Beauty : Sleep Apnea

Just wondered if anyone else suffered from this condition and what experiences they have had dealing with it.

I had sleep problems for upwards of 20 years without any diagnosis. I would snore at insane levels. Fall asleep during the day continuously. Feel consistently knackered when I 'woke up' in the morning. I had surgery to fix snoring which acheived nothing. Eventually, last year, I went to my doctor for a referral to a sleep clinic. The doctor wouldn't bevieve me when I told him I was exhibiting all of the characteristics of sleep apnea. The doctor said, in his words, "you couldn't possibly have it because your not overweight and its a subject I specialise in." Refusing this diagnosis I pressed and pressed the doctor for a referral to find out for sure. Basically I refused to leave his room till he referred me =)
The upshot was I was referred to the sleep clinic for a sleep study. They gave me different bits of kit to go home and sleep with (no none of it was inflatable :p)
After I returned to the hospital the consultant turned to me and said "I'm sorry..."
Turns out I had what they termed 'Hypo-severe Sleep Apnea' with 74.6 episodes per hour lasting between 15 - 90 seconds at a time. ...

Stats : 8 Replies

Health and Beauty : Soft drugs - Ever tried them?

I think many people have tried soft drugs like marihuana at least once in their lives. I know also that some sick people(with cancer or something like that) use it as medicine. Do you think they can lead to hard drugs, as many studies claim - or at least many propagands- ? What are your visions on this? Do people around you take them? Are they only used in some special occasions, like parties only?

Stats : 36 Replies

Your makeup regimen

Health and Beauty : Your makeup regimen

So girls, we all wear makeup at one point or another, what do you do?

For school: Depending on how tired I am, either nothign or some quick neutral cream eyeshadow and a little mascara with a touch of lipgloss. and if I find any prevalent acne, I'll whip out a bit of concealer (2 min)

For home: nothing (0 min)

For going out: Neutral foundation. eyeliner, more colorful eyeshadow, heavier mascara, and usually neutral lipcolor. (7 min)

And yes, due to the whole "punctuality" thing, I do know how long it takes me to do my makeup.

also, do you guys like matte or shimmer for your eyeshadow? I'm personally a shimmer person.

Stats : 29 Replies

Health and Beauty : Permenant cuts and scratches

I cut one of my legs right on the bone from shaving a couple of months ago and the scars are still very visible. I also noticed that a small cut from about 6 months ago is still visible on my arm and various other things I've done. Is it possible, does anyone know, to have some kind of condition whereby cuts and scratches don't fully heal on your body?
Do you see people differently if they smoke?

Health and Beauty : Do you see people differently if they smoke?

Simple question really?

I'll be the first to say I see people in a bad way if they smoke, especially if they're young.

People know all about the dangers of smoking, we;ve seen the ads, we know the effects, so why do people slowly kill themselves!?

And why do a lot of people have the cheek to smoke right beside non-smokers and kill them too!!

So do you think of smokers differently?

Stats : 35 Replies

Strep Throat, and the Antibiotic(s) and Mono

Health and Beauty : Strep Throat, and the Antibiotic(s) and Mono

Hey, I have recently gotten strep throat, and I have had it once in the past before, and this is by far the worst I have ever had strep throat.

It started about last thursday night, my mouth (while I was sleeping) would get completely dry, so dry to where I could barely move my tounge. I had not yet expierenced any sore throat yet, so I didn't bother to look in the back of my throat for those little white patches, and I felt fine after getting up, and no longr had any problems the rest of the day.

Then later that night when I went to sleep, it started getting even worse, this was getting bad because my lips would completely dry up, and you know how easy it is for your lips to tear when they are dried, so I had cuts on my bottom and upper lip. Well Friday, I could barely swallow my own saliva, let alone nothing at all. It hurt like a mother to swallow just oxygen. I just bared with it till Sunday, hoping it was just an extremely bad sore throat.

Sunday mroning comes a long, I take a look in the back of my throat, and sure enough those white patches are back there, and a lot of them. It looked very gross, and is the worst strep throat case I have ever seen, I have never heard of anyone getting it this bad. I headed over to the emergency room, because the docs were closed sunday, and I wanted some antibiotics to tyr and hurry to get rid of it, because it is extremelty hard to eat or drink anything.

They took a sample of the liquids on the back of my throat, and 5min later come back with the result of course testing positive with strep throat. They then took some blood from me to check my white blood cell count. They said my white blood cell count was high for having strep throat, so they wanted me to go to the doctors to test my blood again in 48 hours. They also told me there is a possibility that I have mono, along with my strep throat, and that could be the reason my white blood cell count is so high.

Anyways, they gave me two pills for Sunday because the pharmacy was closed, and a prescription for azithromycin (the antibiotic). ...

Stats : 2 Replies

Nutrigenomics: How our lifestyles affect gene expression

Health and Beauty : Nutrigenomics: How our lifestyles affect gene expression

Achieving optimal health depends on a number of factors: getting enough physical activity, eating a healthy diet, keeping a positive mental outlook, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding risky behavior such as smoking, and having good genes.

A gene is part of our DNA. It directs how cells operate and what they produce. Although our genes are passed on to us by our parents, and we don't have choices regarding the genes we inherit, that doesn't mean we can't do anything about our genes. Genes act like dimmer light switches: they can be “turned on” and they can be “turned off.”

Lifestyle decisions such as smoking, degree of physical activity, and dietary choices affect the degree to which our genes are turned on or off. Scientists refer to this as “gene expression.”

Genes, Nutrients, and Some Good Nutritional Supplements
Foods provide nutrients that are used for fuel in energy metabolism and growth, and for the development of structural components of the body.
Some nutrients also help life-critical enzymes to function properly, especially those involved in metabolism and cellular integrity.
In addition, preliminary evidence suggests that certain nutrients may affect gene expression, including Omega-3 fatty acids, phytochemicals, and certain antioxidants.

Pectus Carinatum/Excavation

Health and Beauty : Pectus Carinatum/Excavation

I have Pectus Carinatum. I was wondering if anyone else here had Pectus Carinatum or Pectus Excavation. Pectus Carinatum occurs in around 1:400 people and Pectus Excavation occurs in 1:150 to 1:1000 children.

I was curious to know if anyone else had a Pectus deformity and if they could suggest an easy way to hide it, and if they've got any tips at all.

Its been bothering me for years.

Stats : 4 Replies

Gaining Weight

Health and Beauty : Gaining Weight

Are there any solutions to gaining weight? I've tried to gain weight unsuccessfully for the past couple years, but there's just not enough information out there to effectively do it. Everything nowadays is all about losing weight, and the sites that do promote weight gain are usually all related to muscle mass like eating protein bars and drinking protein shakes and then going to work out. Being a girl, I don't think that really applies to me haha.

I am currently somewhere between 5'4 and 5'5 and i weigh somewhere from 95-100. I'm not exactly sure because my weight tends to fluctuate a lot in between those two figures, and I don't have access to a scale since I don't live at home right now. I don't look unhealthy and people say that I am evenly proportioned, but for a person my height the normal weight should be around 110-115. I would like to get that weight, but I have no idea how to. I've tried eating and just sitting there, but nothing seems to work =/ Does anybody have any ideas?

Stats : 29 Replies

My mother's health condition

Health and Beauty : My mother's health condition

It's been really sad lately for my mom. She is extremely ill and I doubt there is any way to make her better. A little over a month ago she got sent to the hospital because of the way she's been acting and even before she went things were horrible. It was really stressful to take care of my mother when she is in that kind of condition. The doctors came to the conclusion that her liver is failing. I found out that you need a liver to live, so if her liver fails then she's dead. Her liver is in a really bad condition and she went to Denver two weeks ago to be put on the liver transplant list. She's been hallucinating and she's really weak (she'll fall and I can't pick her back up, she has no strength). Today she came back from the hospital and I don't want her here. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom and I was excited to see her, but the entire thing is too dramatic for me that I can't handle it. ...

Stats : 12 Replies
