General Chat : World ending in 2012

Ok well for a while now i have been thinking about the world coming to an end in the year 2012 i really cant say i believe it because well...lets face it i cant even count how many times people have said the world will end on different days.
I do think that we are setting are selfs up for an Early grave but thats besides the point.
So with all that being sead to you guys think the world will come to an end in the year 2012?
Please do not spam this topic i want this to be an honest debate.

with the style quotient attached to smoking, is the government imposed ban on smoking in public places going to make a difference in the present times?
Today's youth may try to always get what they want,but it is up to the government to regulate what they get access to. if the government wants people to cut down on smoking,then instead of restricting the places,it should bring in measures that drastically cut down the cigarette production & import. if one doesn't get a cigarette easily then no style , no harm to others through passive smoking & clean air for everybody to breathe. just because of some masses shouldn't suffer.

We have a webclient on http://www.ytal.nl/frih/applet (java). If your firewall blocks this one you can try to google for CGI:IRC, those rarely work for dal.net though.
The users of the Frihost chat mostly use mirc and chatzilla, so if you need help with those we can help you.
If you want to use trillian, here is a tutorial on how to join the chat.

If you had an "App Phone" (Apple iPhone, HTC Touch Pro 2, Motorola Droid, Samsung Omnia II, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, etc.) what would you use to protect it?

I'm planning to get an "App Phone" so I'd like to know what would be the best solution and it might also prove useful for other Frihost members as well--none of my phones have been worth protecting thus far.

Personally, I was thinking of using the combination of a Protective Film, a Hard Clip-on Case, and a Holster (generic type which will work with the clip-on case).

Well the heading speaks for itself.. where would you live if you would be 'trapped' in any one city of the world.. you can also name a village or small town, but be specific...

Life would go on as the same, but the only twist is that you cant leave the city no matter what...

I've always been interested in online communities in general. I want to in the near future associate with a few people to create an online place (world, 3d chat, interactive community) for the purpose of learning about computers and interacting together on a common project together.

The internet is a very large place however and the task of reaching people who might be interested in what I am seems to me to be phenomenally challenging. Before posting a new topic, use the "Search" function and make sure a similar topic does not exist.
You may safely start a new thread once you're sure that a similar topic doesn't exist. Also, avoid posting multiple new topics in any forum... this gets annoying and will be treated as spam, and most of your new topics will be moved to Trash.
When posting a new topic, try to make your subject as descriptive about your topic as possible.
For example, if you need help with installing phpBB, instead of having a topic called "need help", you could name your topic "need help with phpBB installation"

I was looking at everything that frihost gives to me, and now I realize that it is better than a lot of paid webhosters, and for free, all you need to do is to post 1 message every 5 days for your domain to survive the point reset...

It has not Ads, 250MB

(I have to pay 11$ for 50MB on *host***.biz)(Forum rules don't allow to speak directly bout no other webhosting service, for obvious reasons)

I can put my own domain
Unlimited MySQL databases

OMG, it is so stupid to pay for a hosting service if you have this (unless you are going to use it to post porn or to support terrorism, paid assassins, or "childloving")...

I will buy another WebHosting Service but I will keep this FH one, for respect to them and for puttin some extra data.. xD

For those of you who have Facebook I have a complaint...now that almost everyone can update their status from their phones -- I think posting updates to the news feed has gotten so ridiculous. I was having this discussion with my roomates the other day. Why do I need to know what you are doing every five friggin' seconds? Even if you are my close friend, I don't care that you are "washing your hair" or "bored". These people who do this, are in my opinion RIDICULOUS. We all need attention sometimes, but are you that starving for attention that you need to tell us what you are doing ALL THE TIME. Maybe me signing on to Facebook and viewing the news feed is what feeds this sort of thing, but I don't like it. I use Facebook to share photos and get in touch with friends that I haven't spoken to in a long while.

I have never had the time or resources to geocache hardcore but it's fun every now and then when I get a chance. Ok so here's the deal, I've been getting out of the house and hanging out with friends; we usually just go to the movies.

Of course by the time we get out, its nighttime; late enough for places to be closed, not late enough to go home. So we end up driving around or loitering in the parking lot trying to figure out where to go. It's lame and kinda sad. Anyone have any ideas on what a few teens can do for fun (and I don't mean sex or drugs).

Any suggestions are appreciated

(and P.S. to any mods, there is probably a similiar topic in the archives at Frihost, but I want people to actually read AND respond to my answer...google just gives me a bunch of sites that either talk about going to the movies instead of having sex and the others are sites for little kids on how they should give hugs and share...excuse me for being jaded)

Last Sunday, I dropped my jeep off a cliff with me inside!
Here's the story of how it happened:

Me and two other jeepers were enjoying a trip around the Farmingdale area near the badlands, but part of a cliff collapsed under my jeep.

First, here's the starting point. The red area is the part of the cliff that collapsed under me. I think the close side tires were barely within this area, but that caused the jeep to start rolling that direction, and there was nothing to stop it:

The next three pictures show just how big a fall that was:

After rolling and landing right side up, the throttle was damaged and stuck wide open, making the jeep take off again. It started to climb the cliff again, but rolled over, which stopped it. This picture shows the path of my jeep in red:

I was semi-conscious, but with some help, I climbed out of the jeep myself, and walked over to the other jeep for the trip out. Where it finally came to a stop:

Thanks to the legendary toughness of the jeep, I survived, and, amazingly, the truck can actually still move under its own power. The jeep will be a total loss, but insurance will pay off the loan and I'll get a new one.

I got a broken back, two broken ribs, and a gash on the head, but I lived thanks to the seat belt, the roll bars, and the others out there with me. I should make a full recovery within a year.

Who is General Chat and why is there no mention of him in the history books?
General Chat commanded the Core of The Royal Engineers in Canada when they built the Rideau Canal connecting the internal waterways with the sea side in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in the late 19th century.

Sun bathers complained they were not getting enough sunshine in February so the seaside facilities had to be extended to make amends for this.

Further studies on this are limited because I can't find any more in the History book I got at the Garage Sale

I'm using ATT wireless in the US and I pay USD 44 a month for 300min plus nights/weekend.

Mine's a bit cheaper than usual because of a discount, but it's still a lot over a year .
