Hi,

You might have seen my another thread about 'quest for a free domain name'. I wish to inform all of you who wish to have your own domain name for free. I did it and got it.

It was 20 days ago when I joined ddBoard.com and participated actively there. Withing 20 days I was successful to earn 3000 ddpoints to exchange them into my requested domain http://www.howIearned.com which is hosted in frihost.com itself. Since this is recent domain name and still i'm not been able to upload a site, you might see just under construction page.

So, with my experience, I can say that ddBoard is not a scam and really pays for your posting or participating in forum.

Which statement is correct and which one is not. Many people I have found in forums, in search queries are in quest of free domain names. I started searching free host and a free domain name since long time and finally concluded that free host though might be available but free domain is far from possibility. Some domain names such as uni.cc, co.nr are available but these are not real domain names though. Moreover they require your site to include a link back to them displaying their logo or text.

Now I'm searching for a free (?) domain name. Recently I'm involved in NamePros and I am testing it yet. So it's too early to mention what they claim before I use it. After I get a domain name from there and how they behave for it, I'll certainly post my experiences. Till now what I have found there is:
1. You can use the forum for discussing. The forum is really nice and very sincere users I have found there.
2. They have developed forum currence, they call it NP$. ...

Domain Names : Removing Ad bar in dot tk domains...

Hey now what i have got to ask is about the service provided by www.dot.tk ...That is i have signed up for www.nivinjoy.tk ...but there is an ad bar at the top of the page... I hate this and want to remove this...!!! Is there any way for this...???

I have seen the topics like http://www.frihost.com/forums/vt-51245.html and also i ahve done a google search also...but all of them are telling about old dot.tk interface..i think...

So according to the newest service provided by them is there any way to remove this advertisement bar from the top of the page...

I already use a .co.nr domain but if the advertisemnet bar is not there in dot.tk service means it is a great and wonderful service...

So expect a quick reply from the experts out there...!!!

Peace.

So there i was, waiting to register a domain which used to be mine. It was originally my domain, until the mate who i paid to renew it for me chose to rip me off, and the period to renew the domain expired.
I waited 30 days for the domain to expire. Waited a few weeks, then emailed godaddy and told them to cancel it. Waited 30 days for the redemption period to end. Great, now what? The domain enters pendingdelete status, meaning only five more days until the domain is finally deleted/dropped. After five days, i check the status but the domain is still in pendingdelete status. After a bit of googling, it turns out domains are deleted on the sixth day. Which makes me wonder why everyone was saying it's "five days" for pendingdelete status. So, today's the sixth day.

Am i the owner of the domain? ...

I don't get it.

Just wanted to share the experience I had today:

I went to Godaddy.com to register the domain name I wanted. After wading through so many pages of "Wait, but register the name you want at .info too! And register YourName.co.uk!" and whatnot, I finally had the opportunity to pay. I put in my PayPal information and they were authorized to take funds from my account (they authorized themselves hundreds of bucks for a $9.99 order, by the way), but NOTHING happened. No confirmation e-mail, nothing. For hours.

So then I un-authorized them to take money from my account and signed up with Namecheap. No annoying or insulting "But wait! Register this too!" crap, and they put the WHOIS shield on for free, at least for the moment. The moral of the story being, don't link your PayPal account to anything linked to Danica Patrick. Avoid Godaddy like the plague! ...

Ok, I've decided to write this guide for people looking for information on setting up domains with godaddy, although I am sure you can do this with other domains as well.

Note that

Domain

means your domain.

1. Purchase the domain and log into your account.
2. Mouse over domains title and click "My Domains"

3. Tick the box next to your selected domain and click on "Set Nameservers"
4. You will have an area like this on the right side of your screen like this:

5. Fill in ns1.frih.net and ns2.frih.net (Or ns1.frihost.net and ns2.frihost.net if you are on server 1).
6. You will get a message that says "Your domain changes have been submitted!"

7. Log into your directadmin account. (YOU.frih.net:2222)
8. Almost there! ...

Peace.

I bought a domain for my site a year ago from godaddy. I didn't pay for another year, and now my domain's been unactivated for a set period (60 days or something) and during this time, if i want to buy it again, i'll be charged 80$ extra because they need to "reactivate" it.

The thing is, if i leave my domain until after this period, and then try to buy it, will it be available to me or will it turn into one of those numerous sites that are just search engines powered by domain registrars?

(If you're going to ask why i didn't pay for the domain when i had the chance, it's because i paid someone to use their credit card, due to the fact that i don't have one, to renew it for me, and they stole my money...grrr...ah well).

So, do you think i'll be able to buy the domain again?

I get my domain from www.urlfreedom.com I only wait 24 or less to get the domain I order. It only cost $9.95 a year for a .com domain. If you signup at anotherfree.com (usa and canada only and must use legit info they to require phone activation.) you can take surveys to get 9.95 points for 1 year of .com domain if you don't want to pay. You can also paypal USD dollars right into your urlfreedom.com account.

It's worth looking into anyhow. I do recommend using the site for domain host.

Hello everyone,

As you can see, I have not been active at Frih for awhile now. But, while I have some time, I would like to share a site with you.

AnotherFree is a domain service allowing the user to exchange their reward points for a legit domain. The way it works is you complete simple surveys (most are 3~5 pages) and you are rewarded points. You then exhange those points for a domain.

A .info domain is the cheapest while a more premium domain, such as .com or .net, cost more points. I myself exchanged a mere 1.50 points for a .info domain. I was skeptical to believe it was so easy, but you can see for yourself that it is infact legit.

The reason is asks for legit information (phone, name, etc) is for the purpose of the public whois database when you register a domain with them. The domains

are

registered under your name and you have complete control over them. AnotherFree simply pays the bill.

Also, it is currently only available to residents living in the US or Canada.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

I registered a domain name last year and all was well

In January of this year I received an email from a solicitor saying I had breached there clients trademark and was to release the domain name instantly along with sending there client £9000 in compensation.

I responded to then quoting some articles I had read regarding domain name disputes along with an offer to sell them the domain name as well as a request for compensation for myself.

Earlier this week I recieved with an offer of £75, I told them to add 2 zeros and they would have to file a dispute with internic.

The reason for this post is to see if anyone else has had a similar experience and what the outcome was.

I am looking for a good web host since my dad just canceled his web hosting and they charged $20 for 100MB space so I am wondering what you recommend. I am looking for about $5 or less if there are good ones in that range.

I was looking at 1&1 Hosting and it is cheap but i have heard some bad stuff about them on some forums, I guess not everybody is happy with a company but what service do you use or recommend?

Also I was thinking with a host like 1&1 I could use it myself since they give you 10Gb of space or more but I noticed they only have MS SQL for the Business one on MS Hosting but Linux Hosting has it at beginner so if 1&1 is good would you recommend Linux over MS?

FriHost is hosted on a Linux server right?

just when i was counting the days to asking for my adsense revenue from google, they pulled a fast one, YOUR ADSENSE ACCOUNT HAS BEEN DISABLED. for reasons i still don't know. if they know they arent going to pay why not just ask that we put their ads free as our service to the progress of web services.
does anyone know how to get ones account reactivated???

I wish to renew my domain from dotster.com, but I do not have a credit card to do so. I got the domain from a free domain service (geekdomain.net) but I think they've went out of business. I wish to renew the domain with PayPal, and so far I haven't found a domain service that takes PayPal.

Does anybody know how I can do this?

But, Well anyway, my site will be giving .com domain for members using point system. You earn points by posting. Beside that, we organise sudden event too, and the winner will be given a domain. The sudden event will be open to all members and randomly-themed. For now, the sudden event is designing a skin for our forum.

This is a new forum. If the response is good, more domain will be given in a shorter period.

While a sub domain is treated as a "separate" site, is there any weight is
transferred from the main site. I have something that I want to add as a
subdomain as it makes far more sense that way, but there is a need that the
section I wish to add be indexed fairly fast. Therefore was thinking of maybe
adding it as a sub page of the main site instead? Then release the subdomain
version and delete sub-page once this short term need has passed?
