Website Software : Phpbb3 Tutorial? *Update!*

I am looking for a phpbb3 tutorial that could be set up on my FriHost account, I love frihost but need a forum on my new website. I was following a PHPBB2 tutorial but have BB3 and I need a tutorial for it. If no one can help me, could someone direct me to a link to phpbb2. Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I am currently trying to install WordPress, and I keep getting a 404 not found error. I set up a MySQL and what not, but for some reason the install is not working. Do you have any ideas or tips to help get me started? Thanks!

*Note* I did read the readme and the install guide, but I keep getting this error. Thanks again for any info.

Peace be upon you all / Hey,

As a devoted SMF user (i.e. i won't switch to phpbb or other alternatives), i've been waiting for SMF 2.0 for ageeeesss. I just feel that they are taking so long to release each new version of SMF 2.0.
Please do tell me if you agree or if you think that I'm wrong.

I got the impression that SMF 2.0 would be done and released in early 2008, considering their public beta was supposed to be released originally in October 2007, see #1. But the public beta was then pushed to "quite a few months" after August, see #2; They eventually released the public beta in March 2008, so I thought that SMF 2.0 would be finished and released in late 2008. Nope, they instead released another beta in September 2008. This disappointed me. I then thought it might be released in early 2009, maybe mid 2009 just to be safe. Nope, they released a release-candidate version in February 2009. Hmmm, i thought to myself; i'll learn from my mistakes. I now expect the SMF 2.0 version to be finished and released in 2011. ...

Now, I am currently looking at various managed dedicated server services and a lot of them are talking about servers for a web layer, an application layer, and a database layer and then a development/management server.

Does that mean that there is a set of servers to store and process the front end HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc., a set of servers to store back end PHP, Java, etc., a database server to store MySQL databases and a development/management server to manage all the other servers?

Do you know of any resources that I can look at to learn about creating applications using this system?

I'm thinking about it...

It's a comment system that allows visitors to your site to log in and comment using their Facebook, Twitter, OpenID, Yahoo!, or other accounts, but the Disqus site doesn't offer much nuts-and-bolts detail on how it actually works - do comments show up on my site, or Facebook, or both, or on my site with the option to publish to Facebook, or what? How does it work with Twitter, etc?

I'm not stupid, but I would like to know more details before I actually install it.

Can anyone shed some light on this, or direct me to some webpage I missed that explains it in detail?

I tested some extensions but no one works. Ya, works, but have bugs or i don't like. I see one "myjspace" but I install and don't work.

Anyone have one blog extension or a good tutorial explaining how to install or make a blog in joomla?
I tested almost all extensions here: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/content-&-news/blog

One very good extension is wordpress integration, but is expensive
My joomla version is 1.5.9

Who all uses Joomla here? Or is experienced with joomla? i have been using joomla for quite some time now and i don't think i would trade it for any other CMS system out there!

The main reason im asking is i have a lot of small projects that i need some help with if anyone that's skilled enough with php and mySQL is willing to help. Im using joomla and jomsocial and i need to integrate uddeim and jomsocial also i use puarcade component that's modded and it sends messages to users when their high score gets beat from another user and i need to get that working for jomsocial as well. If anyone has any knowledge regarding joomla, or php and mysql period and is willing to shed some light on this situation for me i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again for your help.

If you're trying to set up an ordinary, informational website that doesn't look anything like a blog, wiki, portal, or phpBB... i.e. looks just like an ordinary website... and if you want a non-geek to be able to set up a such a site quickly (including getting rid of the default content/organization and putting their own in)... and if you want the site to have theme support (preferrably CSS themes)... and if you want an even less geeky person to be able to log into this site and alter the content once in a while (not necesserily the layout)...

...what CMS would you pick?

I need to develop an intranet for a certain community in PHP, but I am a bit at a loss on choosing the right web framework for the job. Can someone help me decide which framework suits my needs best? I am pondering on symfony, cakephp, codeigniter, and kohana, but any other suggestions are always welcome.

The intranet has the following characteristics:
* Programmers come and go every year, so the code must be readable and easy to grasp (this is the most important factor). Also, they have varying skill level so the less concept to learn the better.
* It manages around 500 users only so performance should not be a problem.
* All the users have uniform fast broadband internet access (we're all in the same building anyway) so page size (HTML, CSS, Javascript size) is not a problem at all.
* The website will be served over IIS (Microsoft server).
* It must support authentication by LDAP (I haven't looked into this, but I suppose there are some plugins I can use regardless of which platform I use).

I was not able to use a table for testing on the mysql database i set up. I tried using a table with the command LOCK TABLES drupal_install_test WRITE and mysql reported the following error: Access denied for user 'inphurno_testing'@'localhost' to database 'inphurno_testing'.

This is the error that I get when I tried to run an install of the tables in the mysql database. I made the user and the database today so I don't know how long this takes to activate. I have the mysql host set as localhost and I have a table prefix set up as inphurno. I don't know if this is ok or if there are other setting to add, also I have not set up a database port.

I'm hoping someone can give me a hand. I have been having troubles getting extensions to install when Joomla is on this server. Using the upload and install option I get these errors

* JFTP::mkdir: Bad response
* JFTP::chmod: Bad response
* JFTP::store: Bad response
* Warning! Failed to move file.

If I try unpacking and uploading the files to the server I get this error

Please enter a package directory

If anyone has any ideas or if you need more info, it would be great
