Hi!!

i have been working on a lot of html files (in thousands) that are scattered in my pc. Last day when i started pc and started Opera, then pages that i opened in the last run were there (its my defalt setting), but the strange thing with those pages was that all pages contained a popup (including my local html files and my site's offiline files (coming from cache). I was surprised, i checked the code and found that each page (HTML) on my pc contains an extra bit of code:

This is written two times when i saw the HTML in notepad (in all pages) but when i checked Opera source of the HTML files, it was there just 1 time.
The page looks like:

The code appears as many times as the Virus or something else has modified. So i have files with the popup line repeading 6-7 times also.

as clearly written in the code, it opens a readme.eml file. Its an Email File and contains an email coming from an email address that is not actually my email address but its the word that i used to use widely on the net. "HSA-Supers".

Size of the eml file was 14.7 KB with some understandable text and a lot of Encrypted text. ( I think it was XML (may be not)).

Please comment what was it, how to get rid of it? All of my HTML files in my PC are edited by it, how to get them back?

I have reached the point where I have enough images in my web site's skin that the page loading, no matter how fast, subtracts from any "good looks" it might have.

I would like to find a way to delay the page from displaying for a couple seconds while the page loads. So that it can all be shown at once. I have looked into several methods of preloading images with javascript, but I'd like to avoid having any text floating around on the page without any logical order to it until the images load. So if anyone knows a script to preload a page, that would be great!

Let me be clear about a few things:
- I have no intention of catering to slower connection speeds, 99% of my visitors are going to be gamers.
- I have no intention of supporting 800px wide resolutions.
- I do actually plan to switch to a centered page layout in the future (margin left/right: auto).

Hello, it's me again in the php section needing some help.

THis time I am messing with divs. Here is what i want to do. In this site planet.frihost.org i have made some design but it's rubbish at the moment. Where I need the help is :

Bottom I have this blue box - copyright etc texts. Now this div is relative to that big one. But i want that my menu, the brown one slides down with the big one and the blue box will be relative to this menu div also.

Maybe it is difficult to understand but I made fast paint picture to show what i want.

Lines are showing what is now and arrows are what i want to the divs to do in future.

A lot of Bugs in IE6

Fews months back i came to know that IE6 doesnt correctly handle transparent PNG files and there needs to be a js fix in order to handle Transparent IE6 images. To resolved this, i used to use http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola this script, but it doesnt help with Transparent PNG backgrounds.

Anyways, today i found few more problems with PNG when u r using IE6.
IE 6 doesnt border a PNG image at all. no matter whether you apply borders using css or html, borders doesnt work.
I applied certain js (jquery) code to do some act when mouse is moved over an image, this too didnt work but when i replaced wll pngs with jpgs, it started working fine. I dont understand why png image is preventing js to apply.

Also, if PNG image is not properly downloaded, instead of displaying that red cross that IE6 usually displays and borders around that cross, IE6 leavs the space blank leaving the width and height already set with image (but infact sometmes it doesnt even care to follow the width and height attrs).

ANd the worst of all, if you rename a .jpg image to .png, IE wouldnt load that page on which such image is linked, it gets hanged. I havent tested the renaming .png to .jpg but i guess results would be the same.

Thanks God only appx 10% people use IE6.

EDIT:

1. Float doesnt work when you have set the width to auto (it happens mostly, not all the times).
2. Float doesnt work when "position" is missing from parent element (i tested it with divs). Also this occures not all the times.

Can you specify any other bug in IE6?

Sorry for so basic question, but can you recommend some sites to learn usable css? Not outdated ugly basic solutions nobody uses anymore.

I see my problem as having different perception and needing translation from "function required" to "how it is named in css".

What happened to how to make a single or two columns page, mixed columns after that, draw the line after that, making this but not that type of menu approach? Or at least the dictionary for translating from human language to css terms to look for?

In html it's easier: enter in the search font color or relative and absolute links, and you get at once what you need.
Not so with css: columns, mixed columns, positioning search show either unusable or outdated things.
I tried to find how to make two short columns after a wide single text column, on a page with sidebar and single column of text. No luck.

Yes, a already read a lot of tutorials, including w3schools, on how css works. This doesn't help and even pollutes the perfectly clear solutions that exist somewhere but impossible to find within one day (for every small thing you need to find).

I am fairly new to designing websites and I would like to turn my hand to it. I have been reading up on HTML and JaveScript. I can make pages with pictures that link everywhere and have on mouse over scripts etc.... But, am i wasting my time doing all the code myself?

if there is any script error, to view it, in firefox we click tools, error console. or you can use add on like firebug.

in IE, it will show script error icon on status bar and we we can double click it to view the error.

So, I am trying to put a favicon on my site at http://atomicdingo.com. The favicon is located at http://atomicdingo.com/favicon.ico. Now, I have a problem, if I go to my site, the favicon doesn't appear and if I go to http://atomicdingo.com/favicon.ico, it tries to download the favicon.

NOTE: **IMG ID** and **DIV ID** should be the same in both places. Use something like 'wowimg' and 'wowdiv' so that the two related things can be more organized looking when reviewed.

The cool thing about this is that it is a singular function for every expanding section. You can make a whole tree (expanding sections within expanding sections) as long as each expansion has it's own unique Div id and img id, because that is the information used in the function.

So, go ahead, use it if you like...or don't if you don't want to! But either way, tell me what you think

I have an email form with basic validation (dreamweavers built in validation)

I have this script to validdate everything on the form I want

Now that works fine but I also have the need to for the user to confirm there email address
and I use this

Now they both work! but if the email adress are not the same ofter the first script has validated everything it still sends. is there a way of stoppong the script from continuing?

I'm not a java geek!

ok, im trying to get my forgot pass link found at the bottom of the page on my website http://www.xtm.frihost.org/ to open an ajax box or something similar instead redirrecting them to a whole new page it would just look so much nicer to have a simple little box pop open to submit their info.

All i need is some type of script that will allow me to load my .php file for this into a popup window. I found a nice little script that kind of worked which let me load the php file into a popup and it seemed to work but it conflicted with my site in so many way due to css styling so i need a new cleaner or simple approach.

It does not have to be ajax anything will work so long as i keep it fairly simple and decent looking. Thanks again for your guys help!

So Here is my dilemma: on my site http://www.since83.net, I am trying to make the div that contains my left side navigation (mainNav) to "onClick" with java and load a "blank.html" into another div that has an iframe (imageFrame) inside of it. Ideally what I am looking to do is when you click on "Info" then my "subNav" appears and then let's say you click on "Contact". Now I have 2 iframes (subNavFrame + imageFrame) inside two differently named divs (subNav + imageStage). Then when a user clicks on "Design" I would like the "subNav" to display the list of projects and the ImageFrame to link to a blank.html (which is just to clear the div/iframe).

I currently have the functions in my index page as :

but nothing seems to happen ?

Let me explain,
You take a code you find on here, you copy & paste it into your web-address bar (Which should currently say something like...http://frihost.com/forums/) Press enter, and it "preforms" a trick!
If you like these codes, please post containing some of your javascript codes.
If there is a space between java and script, please remove the space.
What I have so far:

Why is that?

Drop down Menu

Ive tried customizing an existing script, but its taking me too much time to get what i want because im absolutely new to javascript.

The image above is the navigation menu that i have.
im using dreamweaver's default rollover image feature to change the image on mouse over, that basically has a different shade.

Well i want to keep that feature, and also have a drop down menu.
Only "About" and "Courses" are to have drop down menus.
heres the plan for the menus.

The menus are to have submenus too. Thats pretty clear in the quote above.

For the sub-menu for Course Outlines, the submenu can either be with a scroll, or be double columned with 10 listings in each.

The background of the menus can be a simple shade of grey (customizable), or be an external image that i can edit.

Please help me with this.
Any help will be much much appreciated.
