Personal Art Gallery : Catscratches

I've decided to keep a single topic for my works from now on. Starting with showing of two pieces that I drew today.

The first one is called

Then The World Turned Bright

and is a quick sketch for a game concept I have.

This one is a little experiment in graphical style and is called

Far Away

. Heavily inspired by Ókami (if you havn't played this game, do so

now

!) and Hiroshige (check his works out, they're awesome).

got a new camera for my 30th (yikes im old) off my wife and kids

canon eos 1000d (otherwise known as the rebel XS)

got sent into Melbourne for a work course (i live in a small town of 200 people about 4 hours east of melbourne) and being bored in the motel room one night i went out and took some pics with the new camera

My greed

I want it in exclusion
for that they covet more
not realizing the illusion
of the value that lies in gore.

my greed has me overcome,
with little inside me to resist
and its harms will be done,
while I heed to its persists.

I succumb to its bids
in the advert of its reality
encompassed in its gist
not realizing its frugality.

Had I known true love and generosity,
and how it could have set me free
I would have stopped my falling velocity,
and that of my greed destroying me.

So this is my fail attempt to write up a poem.

Knives of Lies

Statics present ninety percent of the world assumes there is a greater being
This being claimed to be omniscient, omnipotent and benevolent
Some claim to be at present of this being but seeing is not believing
Some claim to be at present of aliens but seeing is not believing

When one observes this imaginary it is a delusion
When one plus more observes this imaginary it is a religion
Scientific evidence far more logical and reasonable than lies
For it is lies which begins the assumptions of greater beings

Let us not forget we are the controller of our own destiny
There is no future that is written on stone, we have the power
For when there is one action taken another must follow
Though not from the stone of written text but from our minds

Do not be brain washed and filled with lies
It is ones choice to think for them and not stabbed by knives of lies

Hey all!
I am a wanna-be artist sometimes. Meaning that I only get the itch to draw very infrequently. I have to have a lot of time on my hands (of which I rarely get). And then there is the, "MUST HAVE INSPIRATION" factor of which seldom comes. So I don't have much work. In fact what you see is really my ONLY works! Well.,other than the occasional child hood drawings of rocket ships, and airplanes. My father was an artist (not professional.), but he did do some work for profit on a couple of occasions when I was young. I guess that's where I got my aspirations.
I have only really ever been interested in attempts at realistic art. ('Realism') As opposed to 'Abstract' art. ...

Last month I went on a school trip to New York. The plane journey was agonising (sitting next to an unusually talkative teacher) and the hotel was atrocious (loud neighbours, if you know what I mean) but having the opportunity to walk around New York taking photographs was worth it.

Here are a few photos I took during the week I was there. They aren't tourist snapshots; hope you enjoy. For the record, I developed and printed these photos myself.

Have you ever looked back at your old notebooks and found doodles that you should have made into real cartoon drawings? I have the habit of doodling during seminars and conferences and most often I forget about them after the updating session is finished. Today, I found out one of my old notebooks and the doodles I made there. There were some that were so good, I felt sorry I didn't develop them. Here are two of them...

The second one especially could have been developed into a cartoon strip.

I can of course try to reproduce these but it won't be the same.
