Windows 7 God Mode

Tutorials : Windows 7 God Mode

I've gotten a number of emails about a Windows 7 "God Mode" feature, and while I haven't had time to check it out thoroughly, it's now making the rounds internally at Microsoft too, so that (somewhat) suggests it's legit. What it basically is, is an extended control panel that allows you to control various aspects of the OS that are not typically surfaced via a GUI.

Here's how you enable it:

Create a new folder (right-click and click on “New Folder”). Right-click on the folder and click on rename, copy and paste this: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

What comes up is a Control Panel like window with sections for Action Center ("Check security status" and so on), Administrative Tools, and AutoPlay.

Nothing major, frankly, but interesting. Use at your own risk, of course.

Stats : 3 Replies

youtube - Video not available in your country

Tutorials : youtube - Video not available in your country

This may be old news... but still usefull at times

Lets say you want to see a video on youtube and when you get to the Page... it says...
“This video is not available in your country”

If the URL of the YouTube video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4dCIMV6IkM– just replace the /watch?v= part with /v so your new URL becomes http://www.youtube.com/v/O4dCIMV6IkM

How to Make a Folder or File Super Hidden in Vista and XP

Tutorials : How to Make a Folder or File Super Hidden in Vista and XP

There are a few files in both windows XP and Vista which are super hidden. Such files cannot be viewed by changing the hide folder option to view all hidden files. Well, if we can view them can we make any file/ folder super hidden? Well, yes.

So, why do we really need to super hide files/ folders?
To keep files/ folders more secure and safe.
Super hidden files/ folders become system files and changing the super hidden property of these files and folders is normally not possible.
Super hidden files/ folders cannot be viewed even if the “view hidden files and folders” setting is ticked.

Here’s a short tutorial to super hide files and folders. It works for both XP as well as Vista.

Firstly create a file with the name “123”

Now, Go to Start> Run>cmd

Type attrib “filename or folder with complete path” +s +h (without quotes). For instance, if the folder you want to super hide is located in C: drive then the path is C:\123. You need to type “attrib C:\123 +s +h” without the quotes.

That’s it the folder is now hidden. You can do the same with files as well.

Stats : 2 Replies

How to Make your PC Shutdown in Less than 5seconds

Tutorials : How to Make your PC Shutdown in Less than 5seconds

My pc takes a long time to shutdown these days, there’s a lot of junk in it. I used to format my C drive once in a month but it’s been nearly 3 months since I formatted it. Nowadays I have to wait about two to three minutes for the pc to shutdown. It’s really annoying especially if you got to go out. While browsing I came across a cool trick which will help to shut down your pc instantly.

Press ‘Ctrl+Alt+Del’ to open the open the Windows Task Manager.

Now Click on ‘Shutdown’ on the top

Press and hold the ‘Ctrl’ key and Select ‘Turn Off’

Your pc will shut down almost immediately. This process is pretty safe; it won’t harm your pc.

Stats : 2 Replies

Tutorials : Youtube screen case tutorials

Hi

These are my first attemp at making screencase tutorials.

http://udopage.com/udopage_14.php

I plan to redo them in the future. But this is how they are now

Enjoy..

Stats : 3 Replies

Desktop Tips

Tutorials : Desktop Tips

Creating a New E-Mail Shortcut

To create a shortcut that will open your default e-mail program starting a new e-mail,

1. Right click on an open area of the desktop
2. Select New / Shortcut
3. For the Command Line, enter mailto:
4. For the title enter something like New E-Mail
5. When you click on this your default e-mail program should start with a new e-mail form.

Creating 3D Window Effect

You can create a nice 3D effect for your windows

1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Colors
3. Make sure the following setting are there:

* ButtonHilight=128 128 128
* ButtonShadow=255 255 255

Creating Shutdown, Restart and Logoff Icons

To create the icons, create a shortcut on the desktop.

For Shutdown, the command is C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe, exitwindows

For Restart, the command is C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe, exitwindowsexec

For Logoff, the command is C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 0
Having your Favorites and Start Menus Sort Alphabetically

If your Start Menu Program or Favorites are not sorting alphabetically, it is easy to fix this:

1. Start Regedit
2. ...

Stats : 3 Replies

Windows Explorer Opens Search Companion Rather than the Folder

If the Windows Explorer opens up the Search Companion rather than opening up the actual folder, the default setting for opening a folder is changed.
To correct this:
Start Regedit
Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Directory \ shell
Edit the default value to be explorer or none

Network Access After Norton Anti-Virus Install

Sometimes you can't access a WinXP computer after installing Norton Anti-Virus.
There might be a variety of errors at the other computer depending on the operating system.
On the XP computer, in the Event Viewer / System log, there will be the following error:
The server's configuration parameter "irpstacksize" is too small for the server to use a local device.
Start Regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
Edit the IRPStackSize
Give it a value of 15
Reboot the computer

Configure for Auto-Logon

If you are the only person using the computer and what to have it automatically log you on,
Start / Run / "control userpasswords2" - no quotes
Uncheck User must enter a user name and password to use this computer
Services You Can Disable
There are quite a few services you can disable from starting automatically.
This would be to speed up your boot time and free resources.
They are only suggestions so I suggestion you read the description of each one when you run Services
and that you turn them off one at a time.

Some possibilities are:
Alerter - Sends alert messages to specified users that are connected to the server computer.
Application Management - Allows software to tap directly into the Add/Remove Programs feature via the Windows Installer technology.
Background Intelligent Transfer Service - The Background Intelligent Transfer

service is used by programs (such as Windows AutoUpdate) to download files by using spare bandwidth.
Clipbook - ClipBook permits you to cut and paste text and graphics over the network.
Error Reporting Service - Allows applications to send error reports to Microsoft in the event of an application fault.
Fast User Switching - Windows XP allows users to switch quickly between accounts, without requiring them to log off.
Help and Support - Allows the XP Built-in Help and Support Center to run.
IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service - You don't need this if you have other software to create CDs.
Indexing Service - Indexes contents and properties of files on local and remote computers; provides rapid access to files through flexible querying language.
IP SEC - Manages IP security policy and starts the ISAKMP/Oakley (IKE) and the IP security driver. If you are not on a domain, you likely don't need this running.
Messenger - Transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients and servers. This is how a lot of pop-up windows start appearing on your desktop.
Net Logon - Supports pass-through authentication of account logon events for computers in a domain. If you are not on a domain, you don't need this running
Network DDE - Provides network transport and security for Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) for programs running on the same computer or on different computers.
NT LM Security Support Provider - Provides security to remote procedure call (RPC) programs that use transports other than named pipes.
Performance Logs and Alerts - Collects performance data from local or remote computers based on preconfigured schedule parameters, then writes the data to a log or triggers an alert. If you don't need to monitor your performance logs, then you don't need this service.
Portable Media Serial Number - Retrieves the serial number of any portable music player connected to your computer
QOS RSVP - Provides network signaling and local traffic control setup functionality for QoS-aware programs and control applets.
Remote Desktop Help Session Manager - Manages and controls Remote Assistance. If you are not using Remote Desktop you don't need this service.
Remote Registry - Enables remote users to modify registry settings on this computer.
Routing & Remote Access - Offers routing services to businesses in local area and wide area network environments. Allows dial-in access.
Secondary Login - Enables starting processes under alternate credentials. ...

Stats : 5 Replies

increase ur harddisk speed

Tutorials : increase ur harddisk speed

To speed up your hard disk speed we need to configure a special buffer in the computer's memory in order to enable it to better deal with interrupts made from the disk.
This tip is only recommended if you have 256MB RAM or higher.
Follow these steps:

Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the Run command.

Expand the system.ini file window.

Scroll down almost to the end of the file till you find a line called [386enh].

Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type

Irq14=4096

Note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE!!!

Click on the File menu, then choose Save.

Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.

Done. Speed improvement will be noticed after the computer reboots.
Update: The most speed improvement is visible with IDE drives, however there are reports that this tweak also does good for SCSI disks. In any case, it won't harm your system, so why not try it yourself and let me know what you find.

TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK

Stats : 9 Replies

How to Install PhpNuke Themes

Tutorials : How to Install PhpNuke Themes

How to Succesfully Change Your PhpNuke Theme:

In My Tutorial You Can Find:
-How to install a PhpNuke Theme
-How/Where to Download a PhpNuke Theme and Extract it
-How to change your PhpNuke Theme using Admin Panel

Changing a theme/template with PHP-Nuke is quite an easy task. Generally, you will just have to download the theme archive, extract it to your local computer and upload it to your ‘themes' directory. A good source of free PHP-Nuke themes is the PHP-Nuke official web site and the forum that comes with it. Or Kalgash Themes at www.kalgash.com

First, we will need to find a theme archive to use. For the purpose of this tutorial I have chosen griffin. Please, download griffin.zip file on your local computer and extract it. This will create a new directory called Griffin.

To make the new template available for your PHP-Nuke application we will have to upload it first. Please open an FTP connection using your favorite FTP client and navigate to your PHP-Nuke directory(I personally Recommend Core FTP Lite). In our case this is the ‘public_html' directory. From there, please enter the themes directory and upload the whole extracted Griffin directory. ...

Stats : 6 Replies

Tutorials : Gimp - Watermarks

Just an extremely simple tutorial on how to make Watermarks in GIMP:

Step One
:Open up your image. Go into the Layers, Channels, and Paths window and duplicate the backround once.

Step Two
:Go into the GIMP toolbox and select a nice grey for your color.
Something like this:

Back in your image, go to Filters>Text>FreeType. Select which font you are going to use, type it in, and then apply the desired size and rotation. Then click ok to apply it to your image.

How to make it snow in Animation shop

Tutorials : How to make it snow in Animation shop

I posted this tutorial on another forum so i copied and pasted it here.

Quote:

We are going to make it snow in this picture....

Using your selection tool, select the entire picture on the duplicated layer. Then, go up to 'Selection' on your tool bar, and choose "promote selection to layer"

You will now have two layers, your hidden original background, the copy of the background you are working with, and a promoted selection. Make sure you are on the Promoted Selection layer, and using your 'Adjust' menu, change the Brightness/Contrast setting to -255, this will make your promoted layer black.

Next, change your blend mode to screen.

Your promoted layer will now be black and on top of your other layers, but the bottom layer should be 'showing through'.

Now, duplicate your promoted layer two times so that there are 3 of them. Each one of these will become a frame for the snow animation.

Hide two of the promoted layers and select the other. Go up to your effects menu and choose Artistic Effects - Balls and Bubbles. ...

...

Stats : 2 Replies
