Software : Voddler - The Spotify of movies

Have you guys heard about Spotify? The swedish company that offers you a huuuuge database of pretty much all music there is, for you to stream for free, in exchange for like 30 secs of commercials after every 6 songs or so?

Now Voddler is here, also swedish (ofcourse ) and it offers the same service, but for movies and tv-shows! It is still in beta testing mode, so it is not 100% functional, and their assortment of movies isn't yet what it is supposed to be (although they have hundreds of movies) and it is also really hard to get invites...

But it looks promising, their regular streaming quality is equivalent to DVD, and they are also gonna offer HD-streaming! Kicks ass!

A friend of mine is a singer who uses backing tracks on CDs. That means she only has a short, fixed time in between tracks and so cannot interact with the audience.

What I want to do is to get all her tracks onto a laptop with software that can use playlists and pause after each track, waiting for her to tell it to continue (maybe using Enter or a mouse click). All the audio players I've seen would need her to stop the playlist manually if she wants to interact with the crowd & then re-start. Although that's only 1 extra click, it means she has to be in the right place at the right time to pause the playlist thus reducing her freedom to move around the stage and engage with the audience.

Does anyone know of a player that can do this? I don't mind paying for the right software.

Can someone suggest a way to capture YouTube streaming clips on one's PC, and then convert these to local files that one can play on demand using e.g. Windows Media Payer?

Sometimes I'd like to save a YouTube clip because one never knows when YouTube will remove the clip from their server.

I don't think this would be illegal.

I am currently unable to download files in my firefox browser in general. The only way that I can download is to use the IE Tab file extension to convert a Firefox tab into an embedded Internet Explorer tab. This seems to fool the browser. Places where I have had the problem include downloading files in regular Firefox tabs from flickr.com and downloading the latest update for my Adobe Flash Player. These examples all worked flawlessly in the embedded tab with the IE Tab file extension.

So yeah, apparently Sun makes a freeware (with an open source core, even) virtualization system called VirtualBox that has all the features of VMware Workstation (including nice guest/host integration and fancy stuff like USB emulation and 3D virtualization), but is 100% free for all non-commercial use. Does anyone know about software that one can use to create line art .... not with artwork, but the software having options for the line endings, and manipulating the lines? For example I sometimes would like to cut off the line end diagonally, but have to use triangles, etc. the difficult way. I would like software so that I can create lines as I would like them to appear, also when the lines do appear, such as being able to manipulate the line with a rotating tool, I want to be able to stretch the line in any direction.

When accessing PDF files from my university intranet with Firefox, there is no option to view with the document viewer / evince. There is only an option to save the file. However when using Firefox under windows there are options to view with adobe reader, save, etc. This only happens in that particular site, so PDFs in other sites have open with option.

Why does this happen? I tried looking for the options but cannot find it. The weird thing is it only happens in one website and not the others. I also tried to disable all extensions, to no avail.

I've had Norton for years but they're starting to **** me off. My subscription has expired but I notice when I click on renew it takes me to their website and a renewal costs $39.99. But if I simply do a search for antivirus programs, I can download the entire new 2009 Norton antivirus for ten bucks less. Why are these people trying to gouge existing customers and not new customers? It ****es me off. It's just enough for me to never use Norton again.

I recently purchased Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium as OEM and wow, was that an awful experience when I actually tried to install it. Web Premium includes Adobe Flash CS3 Professional, Dreamweaver CS3, Fireworks CS3, Contribute CS3, Photoshop CS3 Extended, Illustrator CS3, and Acrobat 8.

It was a humungous bundle of almost 2GB to download, which I could manage, but the actual installation did not work out well at all, as well as caused some of my existing software to conflict. In the end I de-installed everything and have not tried it again ... that obviously turned into a huge waste, as I actually paid for the OEM download.

Has anyone else tried this Bundle, and what have your experiences been?

I have been having a lot of problems with Adobe Reader 9.0. In February, when I prepared my income tax returns for 2008 for the Internal Revenue Service using forms from their own web site, I encountered problems with some prior year forms and was unable to enter data in those them on Reader 9.0. I actually had to switch to my 2003 laptop, which still has Reader 8.0 installed to perform data entry on my tax forms.

Now, I have been trying to use the Illinois State tax forms and have been able to enter the data in the 2008 forms. However, I am unable to print them from my 2007 Laptop, which is a Hewlett Packard Pavilion DV9000T with Vista Home Premium to my old October 2005 Brother MFC 4200 CN printer, for some reason. The printer driver does not seem to be recognizing the .pdf file type. This seems odd because reader is a software program that is suppose to be universal.

My Hewlett Packard Pavilion DV9000T is equipped with two 120 GB external hard drives. I use one as a system drive and one as the data drive. I keep my iTunes library on my data drive so that when the system crashes and my hard drive needs to be reformated or restored I don't lose any files. However, I seem to be unable to configure my iTunes so that my iTunes Music Library.xml and iTunes Library.xml files are on my data drive. Is there any way to configure iTunes to store these files on my data drive?
