Has anyone gotten a chance to play Infinity Ward's newest addition to the Call Of Duty franchise? It's called Modern Warfare 2

Here's a quick summary...

This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the roles of members of an elite squadron on the trail of a Russian ultranationalist. Players defend the U.S. from Russian armed forces, engage in skirmishes and combat missions, and track the ultranationalist in an attempt to discover his true motivations and co-conspirators. Players use machine guns, sniper rifles, grenades, and missiles to kill enemy soldiers throughout the battlefields. Realistic gunfire, explosions, and cries of pain are heard during the frequent and fast-paced combat. The most intense depiction of violence occurs during a "No Russian" mission where players take on the role of an undercover Ranger: Several civilians are gunned down at an airport as players are given a choice to participate in the killings (e.g., players can shoot a wounded civilian that is crawling on the ground), or walk by and observe without opening fire. In either case, civilians scream and emit pools of blood as they are shot to death. Within the multiplayer portion of the game, players can unlock "emblems" to be used on their player name cards. Some of these emblems contain images that reference drugs (e.g., a cannabis leaf; a name card with a depiction of a joint). ...

Pretty sick, huh? First, it was ATI working on face rendering technology, now nVidia taking the ball and running with it. It might be awhile away before they can make this possible on video game consoles, but when it happens where do we go from there?

It's due out in a week, it runs on an 800mhz PC, and it only costs $20. (LESS if you preorder)

The producers and creators of Diablo I and Diablo II left blizzard to form flagship which went backrupt and then moved on to runic games where they began work on Torchlight, and that excites me terribly.

You get a pet who can fight and carry things for you. The graphics look superb, it's cheap, and it doesn't need a great computer to run.

I can't wait!

Hello all.
I got a PS3 for Christmas and am in the process of getting some games for it. So far I only have Uncharted, Unreal, Resistance 1 and PAIN. Since the commercials for Little Big Planet started, I have wanted to check out the game - unfortunately, the game is always checked out at the rental store and I would hate to buy it if its not a must have game.

So, Frihost community, do any of you all own Little Big Planet? How do you feel about it? Is it a passive interest or a must have for the library? I am just a little curious. I am seriously considering buying the game, but it is staying high and I want to know if it is worth it before I drop $50 on it...

I see sticky's for PS3 and Xbox360, but not alot of love for Nintendo or specifically the Wii.

I'm definately getting a Wii, and I don't actually know anyone whose choice isn't the Wii.
We've also had a 360 at our schools (game design at uni) "games room" since launch, but the most anyone ever played on that is a bit of Hexic, or whatever it's called. I think even the old Xbox has seen more action.

And as for hitting weakspots to deal massive damage? Well.. it's a bit been there, done that, dont'cha think?

Hello frihost gamers!

At E3 Ubisoft announced the sequel of Assassin's Creed. It will feature a new protagonist, Ezio, instead of Altair. Desmond will remain as a character but what I've read is that we will be able to do more with him.

The whole game is set in Italy in the year 1486 (Renaissance). It will be released in North America on November 17, 2009 and in the rest of the world on November 20 for PCs, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

There will be a special collectors edition called the Black Box, with three special missions at special locations (Palazzo dei Medici for example), the soundtrack and more.

9/9/09.... The release of The Beatles Rockband and their remastered albums on CD. #9 has always been a predominant number in their history, and you can hear that number in certain songs.

I am interested in your reviews of The Beatles Rockband, and please state which system you play it on. It will be interesting to see how the game compares between the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. I figure that the 360 and PS3 versions will be mostly identical, but I am really interested to see if they give good justice to the Wii version. I bought my Wii copy last night, but have not had chance to open it yet.

I would also be interested to read you reviews if you have bought the special edition box sets with the instruments. How does the quality compare to the regular Rockband 2 instruments? Also, Beatles RB adds the ability for up to 3 singers and I think 3 guitar players as well as drums. It would be interesting to see opinions on how they made all of that work.

Just in time for Christmas '09, Guitar Hero Van Halen will be coming out! I love Van Halen, and it's great to see their music out for the game systems. Some of the tracks listed by other artists that are inspired, I kind of question. Such as "truckin" and "White Wedding". Although, I wish it was for Rock Band instead. Simcity Societies - Stability problems?

I bought Simcity Societies for $10 the other day, which I was pleased about as it came with a free copy of Simcity 3000, of which I had lost my original copy a few years ago.

Anyway, apart from the fact that Societies makes my Geforce 9800GTX+ struggle on moderately high settings, it is incredibly unstable from a graphics standpoint.

For example, randomly after anything between 30 seconds to 10 minutes the game will freeze for a few seconds, and then resume normal gameplay but with corrupted texture colours.

Does anyone else experience this?

I am able to fix the corruption by alt-tabbing out and back in, but obviously it's an issue with the game and I would like to know if there is a solution. I've checked out the forums for the game but they were no help.

No, there is nothing wrong with my graphics card and I have tried different versions of the Forceware, running XP 32bit. The card is not overheating and I don't experience any graphical anomalies in any other games that I play.

Heya all, didn't know if this was the best section to post this in but I couldn't see anywhere else it really fit (not really a hardware/software problem, more a query).

Well anyways, I'm planning on having a few friends around to have a bit a gaming session, only I wasn't sure if I would need to have a specific computer set up as a gaming server or not?

There is only a few of us (about 10) any help would be great =)

Really looking forward to this release, its rumored or scheduled to be released in February next year. This time around we get to play as Big Daddy and get to use his powers. Especially looking forward to using the drill and also it looks like powers like fire and others we can use for more power and longer durations.

I was watching the trailer on youtube and it seems we play the very first big daddy and we'll have even more moral decisions to make. There is also a Big Sister in the mix of the game that we have to fight against that also wants ATOM.

We also get to venture outside of the buildings into the ocean thanks to our big daddy outfit and fighting the regular demons becomes much easier as well.

check out the trailers on youtube or read up more about it on google, i'm getting my computer ready to be upgraded so i can play this game at a high resolution on my widescreen monitor

If you want to see the detailed guide along with the screenshoots, you can download this document here. Note that you have to instal the GTA: San Andreas PC v1.0 USA/Europe before you can continue this Installation.

Okay, the very first thing that You have to do is download the SAMP Client, that can be downloaded here. After you've downloaded it, open the .exe file. This SAMP Client is works as the bridge that connect your GTA: San Andreas to our Crime Life - Role Play server.

Click I Agree, then install the client with the same location of your GTA San Andreas location. After finished installing, now open the client by go to Start -> Programs -> San Andreas Multiplayer -> San Andreas Multiplayer.

After the client is opened, make sure the 'Favourites' tab is active. Then on the upper middle toolbar, fill in the 'Name' box with your nick name. And then click the square orange button at the upper left toolbar, 'Add Server' button.

And a box will appear. Fill it with Crime Life - Role Play's server information :
85.17.212.150:7777

Wait for a while. Next the 'Crime Life - Role Play' server will be added at your list. Double click on it.
And another box will appear. ...
