.htaccess file and 404 error

Da Rossa
Hi
Since the last attack server 2 suffered, my site http://www.darossa.frih.net/notas.html cannot be accessed by the url I published, which was http://www.darossa.frih.net/notas (without the .html). If we try this way, we'll get a "not found + 404 error". So, it is necessary to type the extension in the address bar. What can I do to allow it to be accessed without the extension again?

Tks!

I am having the same problem, I am able to visit my main page, but when I branch off on a different page then it shows a:
Quote:
Not Found
The requested URL /updates was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

If I add .htm to the end of the link then it works fine.

Problem is that I would have to change every hotlink to add the .htm, is there something I can do to allow it to not need the .htm to find the link?

If I have to erase my entire wesite and re-uplad it I can do that.

Would following http://www.frihost.com/forums/vt-14867.html that help this issue?

What does that have to do with .htaccess?

Why do you want to call http://www.darossa.frih.net/notas ?
There seems to be no directory called "notas"

http://www.darossa.frih.net/ works
and http://www.darossa.frih.net/notas.html works.

If you have an .htaccess-file which should redirect /notas to /notas.html then post it. There might be an error in the code.

That's precisely the issue. There is no folder called notas, but a html file called notas.html, which is the only file with the prefix named "notas", which is the reason it used to work when we called http://www.darossa.frih.net/notas --> it would redirect to http://www.darossa.frih.net/notas.html, instantly opening the notas.html page.

Moreover I know nothing about the .htaccess file... what do I do?

Sorry. I have no clue about .htaccess. There must be away to simply add ".htm" to the url, but I can't help with this.

I would try to define a 404-error-page, which redirects to the html-file.

I thinks you have to creat a folder called:notas, then upload file .htaccess into this folder. Now you can redirect this folder to other URL with code in .htaccess "Redirect / to /http://www.darossa.frih.net/notas.html

Is it ok???
