how to test an ethernet card?

ciureanuc
Hello all,

I bought two ethernet cards and I want to use the best one (the other one I will keep it for "just in case").
So, both of them were bought from the same place, both of them are second hand, both of them are Intel, both of them are 10/100 Mbs...
Is there any soft who test the timing of pings, the speed of a transfer, etc. etc.?
I intent to use it (as I said, just one) for a internet home server (I will have a router and 8 computers - we are internet addicted! Smile ).

Thanks!

P.S.: I had many RTL8139 cards but I am extremely happy with this old Intel ethernet cards.
Why even now in 2008, a RTL8139 cannot keep up with some old 2002 Intels?
Intel RULES!
(in my country, a second hand Intel cost as much as 8139 new!)

Both will be so close to the same that you won't be able to tell the difference.

You could do ping tests in the command prompt... But if you ping to an external source, pings will vary from outside, whereas pinging to something internal will be 1 or 2ms no matter what (if you have a decent network).

I would just pick the one with the biggest feature set. Smile
