Designing a Logo

Right now, i am redesigning my company logo and I am wondering what you think the optimal size for it would be. It is going to be viewed only on the internet on a computer screen but also on various signs and possibly on HDTVs connected to the internet. I was thinking 300ppi and 1920x1080 dimensions. What do you think?

Design it in as big a res. as your pc can handle. Then you can always scale it down to suit the media you want to display it on.

if you are using vector designing, try making it as big as possible without confusing yourself.

if you are using bitmaps with vector, you can either 1: Vectorize the bitmap with your hand, or 2: lose the resolution.

Goodluck!

I second this. Make it as big as possible. You can always size it down for smaller uses. Making it small and finding you need it bigger causes problems because the quality drops when you try and make it bigger.

yes, as big as possible, it will be more versatile later on. say you'll need it for a billboard??? lol...

Like everyone else said, make the image as big as possible.

If you design the logo in a small canvas, there will come a time when you need a really big version of your logo. If you try to make the original size of the logo bigger, it will decrease the quality drastically unless it is a full TRUE vector image.

So when you make it in a large canvas, save that as the original copy, and then save another as to how big you need it.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, as big as you (and your computer Smile) can.

Oh, and if you work only to digital display then you don't have to be bothered by dpi, just the resolution. Dpi is a relative scale between the digital and real world (dot per inch). Smile

Vectorize the whole thing for simplicity's sake. If it isn't a photograph [i.e. all CG] then you're better off with vectors that resize automatically without the grainy aftermath of bilinear expansion. Vectors = cleaner lines + unlimited size restrictions.

I think you mean zero size restrictions Very Happy
