The Aussie dollars crash

mattandgeoff
Has anyone got any idea why the aussie dollar has crashed so much in the past two weeks?

It was only 2 months ago it was worth $0.97 USD and now is only $0.65

Why has this happened?
Will it continue?
What does the government have to do to stop the slide?

People do not want to hold Aussie Dollars, they are dumping them. That is why your price is falling. Just an FYI, most currencies are losing their value, especially if they are commodity or financial sector based. The USD is gaining momentum because people are demanding more of them as they are selling off their assets, etc... this may not last with the monetary expansion in the USA.

The Japanese Yen is also doing very well currently as people who borrowed and hedged against the YEN are finding themselves with a hell of a lot of Yen on their hands, and there hedges are hitting their income statements hard...

It really depends on the masses...

This is outside the control of governments and central banks.
