Plan to Hunt Down Bin Laden in 2001 was Nixed!

ganesh
A recent story on CBS has recently revealed how the hunt for Osama Bin Laden by the CIA was nixed for some unknown reasons!

Find the whole story here:

Seems like the Afghan warlords initially supported the offensive in Tora Bora, where Bin Laden was supposed to be hiding, but, at the last moment turned against the CIA forces so that their mission wouldn't be a success in any manner.

In addition, it seems like the higher ups vetoed some offensive strategies which might have helped in the real capture. This seems likely to provide fodder for all the conspiracy theories! What is your opinion?

Well, on three occasions during the Clinton administration, we had Osama in our sights, and only needed authority to fire. Each time, Clinton failed to give authorization, once was simply because he was watching a golf tournament and refused to be bothered with it. Of course, he didn't seem like such a big deal back then...

Not true. An urban legend (or more accurate to call it, on edit, a politically-motivated falsehood.)

Q: Did Bill Clinton pass up a chance to kill Osama bin Laden?
Was Bill Clinton offered bin Laden on "a silver platter"? Did he refuse? Was there cause at the time?

A: Probably not, and it would not have mattered anyway as there was no evidence at the time that bin Laden had committed any crimes against American citizens.

We have to be careful about engaging in what historians call "Whig history," which is the practice of assuming that historical figures value exactly the same things that we do today. It's a fancy term for those "why didn't someone just shoot Hitler in 1930?" questions that one hears in dorm-room bull sessions. The answer, of course, is that no one knew quite how bad Hitler was in 1930. The same is true of bin Laden in 1996.

Well, we could also point out that the day after 9.11 the Bush administration authorised planes to go around (when there was a general no-fly policy), collect high-ranking Saudi officials (including relatives of OBL) and fly them out of the country...

Yeah.

i think many politicians, scientists and architects don't agree for the 9/11 incident to be real. Many have the opinion that WTC could not collaps with mere plane hits, even if they were 747s. The consiparcy theory goes very deep in things like that and we cannot guess what is happening. So lets complete my software project.

I'm almost scared to ask, but what does your software project have to do with 9/11 conspiracy theories?

There are a lot of theories about 9/11 and although i am not too fond of most conspiracy theories, the official statements of this major historical event stink like hell!
I hope the new administration will release more facts, or even better: have a propper investigation. Cause if these theories are true, Bush and his Bandits need to be prosecuted...

Are you speaking in general terms about events or in details?

What particular points of the "official statements" do you believe "stink?"

What avenues of investigation do you believe need to be covered more thorougly, or were improperly pursued? What current investigative conclusions do you believe to be inaccurate or poorly deduced? What theories do you believe may be true but are not currently accepted or supported by the evidentiary conclusions of previous investigations?
