Do you have such laws in your country?

snowynight
Hi do you have laws that prevent and punish your browsing adult contents?

In some countries it is strictly forbidden, for example, a chinese surfing such websites in his small company was fined 300 us dollars' worth of money. Also in china a couple were fined and put in jail for watching an adlut dvd together in their OWN home.

Certainly watching porn during work is inappropriate, but in your own home? Now that is inappropriate authority. Shame on you, Chinese government!

I wasn't aware that such laws existed in China.

No, in my country India, there isn't any such law regarding porn.

Though ocassionally, we do have cops trying to shell out some fine (read bribe) from poor souls viewing porn MMS in public places.
But this is a misuse of authority. There is no govt. rule as such, regarding viewing of online porn.

Nope, we don't have any laws against it. But lately we have had the finnish police trying to censor illegal material online, aka child pornography. This had led to that an incredibly large amount of legal sites have illegally been blocked (mostly gay porn) in a sad attempt to sweep the problem under the carpet. About a day ago they also accidentally blocked The World Wide Web Consortium.

Well, watching it in your own home isn't forbidden for sure. Anyway, no one will check if you're just watching porn on your PC Wink

At my country we don't have nothing like that.
We only have the "normal", adult content shouldn't be avaible to minors and at work it's obvious that you shouldn't loose time with unproductive things...
At least I think we don't have any specific (punitive) law on that subject Confused

Not quite true (at least if you get caught). Some people that have been in trouble with the law before and minors should not have access.

We have laws against child pornography here as well, and the police has done some work trying to stop the spreading of certain images etc. But no one will kick your butt for looking at "nude people" in general, even though it's not "accepted" in a social perspective.

well, there is a community that considers denunciations and then if necessary bans the websites that features illegal or adult material. It isn't too strict but in Turkey people only available to reach +16 adult material not +18, so if a website which features breach content, has a really high traffic it may get a ban. Actually there is a confusion, but soon some legal regulation is going to issued to fix.

India's IT sector is guarded by the Information Technology Act which mainly focuses on data security, theft, hacking and related issues. There is no definite provision for filing a case against an individual in India if he watches porn or other adult content in his home or work in this act.

But according to the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), police can file an First Investigation Report (FIR) if they have got evidences that the porn in question is created by the party who is browsing the site itself or helped in the process of making porn. But this is a very strange situation and no one ever faced such a charge in this country.

Generally, it is not against the law to watch porn or other adult content at your home or work or in your mobile but you are not supposed to share them. You are committing a crime when you are sending this file to a recipient who has not given explicit permission to accept porn. In violation, you will be charged with concerned sections of IPC. It is just like forcefully giving adult content to other person who don't wanted to see them...

The question of bribe is also very common. People are not aware that they are at liberty to keep porn in their mobile phones. Many times, crooked police officers says that "you made this movie and will be sued for this" but it is not less than stupidity. Such a case would not succeed in any court of law in India.

For those who keeps porn in their cell phones, I would like to give an advice. Never keep then on Gallery even though it is not an offense. Keep such files in a separate folder at least at a depth of two identifiable folder names like :

E:\private\adult\porn

Benefits:
1. You proved that you are keeping those files for private use only.
2. A casual look in to your gallery by any person, who may find porn inappropriate, will not find them.
3. You have given identifiable folder names and stated that it is private content. If someone opens it, you can argue that it is a violation of privacy.
4. You gave adequate warnings to the viewer. If he decides to proceed, it is his choice not your fault.

Next MOST important thing is to keep an eye on your bluetooth. Always keep it turned off and turn on only when you need it. After use, turn it off without fail. Always set the device to use a pass phrase/code to connect. Some cheap phones do not have much security and you may send porn accidently to a neibhour and it may proved a serious offense. So beware.

And that's all. Even though we have got a 80% corrupted police in India, judiciary is 80% responsible.

EDIT
-----
Watching porn during work, from office connection, from college or school etc should avoided as these connections are shared by many people and can bring disgrace to the institution, if any such activity is observed by someone from outside the setup. Let it from your privacy of your home of cyber cafe and in case of latter, remember to clear cache, temporary files used, form data and cookies so that others are not disturbed...

We have laws against watching child pornography here, but not against watching "usual" pornography Shocked
But I guess China is quite different, also in terms of Internet control - e.g. with the "Great Firewall of China" and such stuff...

In fact, some years back, there was a case registered against an Indian teenager who had created a porn site. The complaint was lodged from another country and the police had zeroed on this Indian guy. An arrest was also made at that time.

Thank God No! I mean, at work it's one thing but at home it's another!

It really sucks,

In Australia, there are no R 18+ ratings, so some stuff isn't allowed into the country,

All the customs staff supposedly burn the porn, I reckon they take it home!

Over at my country firstly there is censorship to filter out certain sites deemed unsuitable. There are are laws against child pornography, age limits, and if downloaded is considered illegal too. Watching them in public is probably not allowed too.. But who on Earth will check every single household to make sure they don't watch at home? Unless you had the volume too loud and your neighbour complains... =X

Doesn't surprise me at all, knowing that the Chinese government censures the Internet. A lot of crimes in China are capital crimes, so their penal law is a bit harsch (understatement!)

This law should be filed in congress hopefully . this can be help to stop crimes or other activity around the world.
