Actually, you are a semantically incorrect. Cross platform/open source software is usually implemented in many environments, including Linux, but the converse is not always true. Just because a piece of software runs on Linux does not mean it automatically will run on any platform. Linux has the advantage of being open source software so it shares a majority of the crowd that develops open source software.
