Cause it's on southpark and isn't really a credible source but also other sites seem to confirm this, so is it a widespread myth?
If not then how on earth can those people believe that?
Anyone in his sane mind wound't believe that, at least thats my opinion.

Well yes and no. I'm not an expert on Scientology, but I do know some about it. In Scientology, you have different levels of crazy (in my opinion; no offense if someone here follows the religion). I've met many of them, and some do seriously believe in this South Park version of Scientology, while other people have different views that are less crazy.

If that's the South Park explanation "THIS IS WHAT SCIENTOLOGISTS REALLY BELIEVE!", then it is technically true... but misleading (for comic effect, of course). It's not hard to make any religion - hell any practical belief system at all - look stupid, if you want to. i've always had a funny image in my head of God as an old man in a robe with a flowing white beard who is supposed to be omnipotent and omniscient having to cast the rebelling angels out of heaven - ruining his "perfect" creation - then sitting there scratching his head thinking, "Shit... didn't see that coming."

One thing about the South Park version you should know: technically, yes, Scientology's dogma does assert the events happened more or less as Parker and Stone described them... however, that's not really "what Scientologists believe". If you're familiar with Christianity, imagine i made a cartoon of Moses and the sorcerers of Egypt casting magic snakes at each other and labelled it with, "This is what Christians really believe!" Or, if you prefer a New Testament example, suppose i made a cartoon depicting some of the events depicted in Revelations and called it what Christians really believe. Would you call that an honest depiction of Christianity? Would you say it is representative of Christian beliefs in any way, shape or form? Remember... it's technically true! i didn't lie: either example is part of Christianity, and if you are Christian, you should believe the facts as stated. But would you say that it gives anyone an honest understanding of Christianity, and what Christians really believe?

i'd say if you believe that, then you believe Tom Cruise isn't in the closet.

(Incidentally, if you are serious about trying to understand Scientology, one thing you're going to come across that will foul your investigations is that there is only one Church of Scientology (note the capital), but many churches of Scientology (see? no capital) People who like to poke fun at Scientology like mainly to target the Church of Scientology (CoS), because of its criminal activities, corporate structure and the fact that its dogma is about the looniest there is. They justify this by saying that the CoS is the "official" church of Scientology, and the other churches - the so-called "Free Zone" - are not "real" Scientology churches. Of course, they don't see the irony in saying this then objecting at people poking fun at Christianity via the Catholic Church. Anyway, many churches of Scientology don't accept the Xenu incident as literal fact... so i ask again... is it really "what Scientologists believe"? You decide.)
