This is a question: Essenes- a sect contemporary with Christ- had two sub-sects: Practicacae (monastics dealing with practical aspects of communal life) and Theraputacae, those training to be healers. Therapeutics (or therapy) - the modern word has been derived from this sub-sect of Essenes, it seems.
On the other hand, Buddhism, when it went to Thailand, gave birth to Theravada: Path of the Elders (Thera).
I read somewhere that Theravada doctrine (or practices) had come to Judea with trading caravans, in BC era, and had interacted with Essenes, the Jewish sect. The two words: Theraputacae and Theravada- have some similarity. Has anyone ever come across something like this?
