What kinds of websites can you make?
Pretty much any kind you want. Porn is forbidden though.
Not just pornographic images, also warez, hosting, mp3 or any other illegal files. I don't use Frihost very much other than PHP file storage, and for a mailer.
I'm hosting myself currently, because I don't want bots to crawl my website and for it to be spread to the web as it isn't very secure.

I just use it to host the name generators I made. Works great, and I don't have to pay.
Read the Terms of Service. Look under part C in particular: http://www.frihost.com/tos.php#c . No porn, illegal stuff, or stuff that looks illegal, in addition to some other rules. Read it!

That's essentially what frihost is, but with double the storage. 
Posting in a forum a few times a week is hardly what I would consider costly.
As for the types of websites you can make, well...just about anything you can think of (except of course the illegal ones). I haven't even made mine yet and I'm not sure what to do with it. I just post here for fun mostly.

Just nice and simple and plain ones... nothing too complex for me. Even those I might have trouble with, as I haven't designed a site in a long time...

Me too, that's why I have an Apple with iWeb. Now I can make the nicest sites without any efford at all 
For now I'm making web page about my projects...there will be screens from them and maybe project binaries to download but I will check first if it is legal but I guess as long as it is made by me it will be OK
