the disk is write protected.

I have this DVD that is a DVD rw... I can erase it... (so I thought)
I took a long time to download a file because I found the DVD that the school burned. I don't care about this dvd rw.. so I want to erase the disk.. burn the image i downloaded.
BUT. it wont let me Sad
when i try to do it with windows vista explorer.. it says

Formatting DVD RW Drive (ESmile NAME_OF_FILE
The Disk Is Write Protected


I don't know what to do to make this work... I can't find my blank DVD's and it will be at least a week before i go to jonesboro amd pick up some...

please help me out asap Sad

download ISO-burner from ntfs.com (freeware) and try with that.
There is also a free erase program for dvds on that site too

I think that you must try INCD that comes with nero. I had also same problem and incd solved it.

I messed so much with CD-RW then later with DVD-RW they're not reliable also don't play well on home DVD players bah

Oh, I don't know about that... There's some stiff competition from laser disks, zip disks, beta tapes, and 8 tracks.

I lost so much data to these worthless CDRWs but then I lost more on Floppies bah i used to crush bad floppies to pieces just because it made me feel better!! i tried to microwave but it wasn't as exciting as CDRs!! I used to crush those too Razz

are you sure its an DVD RW???

why dont u try with some other softwares like nero or many many freeware programs available in google... jsst do a little search and u will do jst fine
