I like *some* trance for background music whenever I'm working on a creative project, such as my writing and such. It's good music to work to, just so long as it isn't repetitive garbage, which a lot of trance seems to be these days, unfortunately.
I agree that most of the really commercial stuff isn't that good. But if you listen to commercial trance that isn't for the masses, like Luminary, it can be great.
