Help: C++ : windows.h

xavax
I've been using c++ a little, and I need to use the windows.h header file.
Ive downloaded the MS SDK, and put it into the include area, but it isnt working. Sad
It finds windows.h, but then that needs a file called winres.h, which it can't find.
In the folder is a file called WINRES.h, are header files case sensitive?
If not, why doesn't it work?
Thanks
SonLight
On a Windows machine, I would expect it not to be case sensitive. However, I would suggest renaming the WINRES.h file to winres.h and see if it works. If there is no other file anywhere is the SDK with a similar name, then that is quite likely to be the problem. If that doesn't solve it, you may need to find a forum dedicated to C++ discussions.

Good luck with your C++ programming. I think it's a great language, and I hope to understand it better. On my Linux machine, of course, I would expect it to fail if I had an all-caps name for an include file.

What is your development environment?

I haven't used it for a while now so don't know exactly, but if you're using Visual Studio you might have to tell the project to specifically use the library in its properties. You might have to enter it in two places as well - once for the compiler and once for the linker.

OK, thanks both. Smile
I'll check the complier/linker paths...

Are you sure you're using a compiler that has the #include <windows.h>? Cause I know a few compilers don't have it like the one i'm using in my class. Borland Turbo C++
