is there a 'tail' like software in MS windows?

I believe you're talking about the Event viewer. There is one in Windows XP which can be accessed via:

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

Then there you go, Event Viewer!

The "tail" program shows the last lines of a text file, or can be used to watch text written to a file as it is written.

Googling "tail windows" brings up http://tailforwin32.sourceforge.net/. If that's not what you want, you could probably find a better match by googling yourself.

how about keyloggers? there are many loggers out there which will give u every detail of the event in the computer. there are loggers that can actually log only the stuffs u wanna know... anywayz google for more answers and softwares

I assume aningo is asking for the tail (view) functionality and not the log functionality.

if you want tail command in windows you can use Windows 2003 Resource Kit
Windows XP does not come with this tool so you can use the Windows 2003 Resource Kit

Both the tailforwin32 and Windows 2003 Resource Kit fits my needs.
I don't want a log event monitor but a text viewer like 'tail'.
