help please
i need a website softtware that is free and makes websites. because i have alredy spent on frontpage, visual studios, microsoft expression and dreamwever and their no good.
i thought dreamweaver was pretty good and easy to use? I don't know if you can actually find a free web design software for free and works better with loads more functions like those you actually mentioned. Anyone out there found any? Or maybe you can run a search on this forum on those who have posted a list of freeware programs in the past.
There are many but it will depend on how much features and capabilities you are looking for. Please tell exactly what type of pages you want to create, what extra things you want them to have and then only anybody could point you to the right software for you.
If you are comfortable with the code, I would recommend these tools:
1. PSPAD - For Coding. It supports many languages including PHP, VB and C: <http://www.pspad.com>
2. Firefox - TO preview your pages: <http://www.mozilla.com>
3. Firefox Web developer toolbar - To check in depth: <https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/60>
4. Firebag - To debug the bugs found in your projects: <https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/1843>
5. FireFTP - To upload your files to the web (FTP): <https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/684>
6. Adobe Photoshop or Gimp - to optimize your graphics: PS: <http://www.adobe.com/downloads> Gimp: <http://www.gimp.org>
7. Your creativity.
I know, you'll enjoy life mastering all the above...
Good Luck
Instead of unloading more money or resources into a new program, perhaps you should just learn to use your current. Of the programs you mentioned I would only recommend the use of Dreamweaver, it has served my needs very well, but admittedly took some getting used to as I was used to the coding aspect for too long. perhaps if you would take some time to read some tutorials from google then you could learn to use it just fine. You really wont find a program thats free and better then dreamweaver.
Quanta + is my favorite, and has wysiwyg capability, but it is only for Linux.
u r saying frontpage and dreamweaver is no good for making websites??? u r kidding me right? lolz. no hard feelings bt u need to learn how to create websites first.
frontpage and dreamweaver's got the maximum capabilities. u cant find a better program bt good luck and hope u do. let us know as to what kinda sites you are making.

I guess he does not mean that they are not good but that he gets lost in too many details of these softwares. He want a simple program to help him make his website.
i'd suggest you start from scratch and work your way up. start with a simple editor that does syntax highlighting. one i like is komodo edit. its a free editor and has syntax highlighting. when starting out its best to keep it simple. don't overload yourself with all the features of those programs to start. itll just get you all worked up and frustrated. just start easy and work your way up. thats the best way.
