How to write HTML with no coding knowledge whatsoever!
By mariomaster

Nowadays, it seems everyone is trying to create a better website than someone else. Well, the days of struggling with coding are over! (almost). This guide will help you to create a really cool webpage using FriHosting! (Or any hosting for that matter) This step by step process will help you on your way:

1. First of all, create an account at a web hoster (in this case FriHost). Make sure the hoster has these components for sure!

- File Manager
- Fantastico
- MySQL Databases
- (At least 100mb disk space)
- Banner ads (ONLY banner ads, people find popups degrading)
- FTP Access

2. Log in to your account and get really fammiliar controls. Like noticing where MySQL is, PHPMyAdmin, and so on.

3. Go to MySQL area and set up a MySQL database. Then, set up a username and password for a MySQL user. Then, finally, install the privelages. All should be checked.

4. Check to see if you have a valid Word Processor. By valid I mean:

- Has HyperLink control,
- Can control text
- Can convert pages to HTML and HTM

If you don't have all 3 features above, consider downloading

TextShield Fusion 2008
OpenOffice
LaTeX
AbiWord

These are all freeware.

5. Now, open your word processor. Just start typing as normal. You should include a header (big type font), a catchy introduction to your site, and some hyperlinks. But don't actually add hyperlinks yet, only add hyperlinks RIGHT NOW if you're linking to a different internet page, not within your site, and on a completely different address. Don't use Non-TrueType font, as it will just mess you up. Now, when your done, save your document as anything but TXT or HTML or HTM. Save it as a DOC or RTF file. For the record, lets name it home.doc . You will need to edit this later, so don't worry about fine details.

6. Next, you need a forum. Go to your Admin CP of your webpage, and use Fantastico to install a high quality forum like phpBB 3 or SMF. Also, make sure you have a directory name ready to install this app into. Now, when the app is successfully inserted in your site, you will see setup screens. Make sure you have your MySQL info ready, as it will be required. At the end of the installation, you may access your forum at the directory you specified/index.php

e.g. http://myfreesite.frih.com/forum/index.php

/forum is the directory you specified during installation.
/index.php is the homepage of the forum. It could be index.html, or index.htm as well.

7. Remember, you can also use Fantastico to install blogs like sBlog. There is no difference from step 6, just that there is a different directory to specify for install. For a blog, chose an easy directory name like "blog"

e.g.

http://myfreesite.frih.com/blog/index.php

8. Now that you've done your pages (feel free to add more as you please), your ready to make them hyperlinks on your homepage! Write the addresses of those links for future reference. Remember home.doc? Open it up, and type in the address to either your blog or forum under the hyperlink options. This way, you now have a bunch of links on your site.

9. When you feel you like your website homepage, we can publish it! Under Save As... (for most processors), save it as file type .html or htm. The name MUST be index. So you'll end up saving the file as index. (htm or html).

10. Open up your web browser and open up your newly saved file! Does it look good? If you need to edit it, simply open home.doc and edit it, then repeat step 9 again.

11. When you're satisfied with the webpage, go to your website Admin CP, and go under File Manager. Delete the file named index. (htm/html) and upload your index.html or htm to there.

12. You can now access your webpage! Remember you can still edit your home.doc for improvements, then repeat step 9, 10, or 11 again.

13. Easy, right? You now have a fully featured website!

It's pretty much for those who don't know much coding and need their word processor to automatically code it for them. However, with images, you will have to later edit the actual code and place an img src tag in there. If you have a lot of typing knowledge and very cool fonts (which can be downloaded) then the site may come out attractive. But it took me at least a week to figure this thing out. It sounds easier than it is. Wink
