There are many like, Zetaboards, Invision Free, VB, IPB, Phpbb, and more..
Whats your favorite?
I like ZetaBoards they are active there are many designs for it
easy modding and coding and etc. I really enjoy it!

Invision boards all the way for me. I like how VB works, but it's too expensive.
I agree..VB and IPB are way too much (VB is better though)

I agree phpBB is the best forum software, the wheels of Frihost Forums. I think there is big difference between phpBB and VB or phpBB and IPB. I would really take phpBB because, as a website developer, it gives me a huge chance which the paid crabs couldn't...
IPB knocks everything out of any forum software I've tried. phpBB simply gets blown down without even putting up a fight.

I'd have to agree with that, I really like IPB.
It is expensive, but you are getting the best.
I hate phpbb the most..it cant give you those looks or features like IPB/VB/ZB/IF can!

I don't see SMF as a choice which is definitely one of the best forum software out there.
Version 2 is coming out soon.
It's very secure, got lots of features.

I like Vbulliten and PHPbb. They both are cool
IPB for administration purposes and phpBB for design purposes. 
VB and phpBB is easy enough for a newbie. But the code of phpBB is not very eligant. So consider the code quiality of forums if you are going to modify it to suit your site.

Shouldn't someone edit the first post to include SMF, which is one of the most popular and one of the best boards/forums available?

IPB for the protection, phpBB3 for the style.

Does phpBB still have a reputation for security problems or is version 3 secure and safe? I was just wondering because it used to have a bit of a reputation i think for security flaws.

I have to say that I like ZetaBoards and phpBB.
phpBB offers more administrative capabilities, and you can hold a tighter grip on the forums and customize user permissions and not just group permissions.
I like ZetaBoards mainly for it's ease of use, and how easy it is to setup.

I have worked with PHPBB installing it and modifying it. I find the community very helpful and the script easy to handle.
