[VB.NET] Assign Extension to program

Hi all,

It's been a while since I last came here, but I have a question now, and I hope you can answer it.

I'm creating an application to encrypt files (and decrypt of course).

1) I'm trying to assign a certain extension to my application. How do I do this? I've tried several tutorials and scripts, found on google, but none of them seems to be working..

2) Secondly, I'm trying to create a shell menu (right click on a file, just like WinRar, and SmartFTP). To make it somewhat easier to encrypt and decrypt files.

I'd like to know how to do these things.

To get a shell menu I think you'll to download some sort of add-on. Ive never come across this natively in VB.
I don't understand what you mean by changing the programs extension. Surely it needs to be EXE?

No I just want an extension (like .xxx) to be assigned to my app. That if a person doubleclicks a .xxx file, my app pops up, en opens the file.
