I'm very pleased with skype in my 32bit Ubuntu. It is the most common and it is very hard to get people use different software than they have used to use.

Gizmo used to give Limited free calls but I don't know whether still they do it. Skype is the best PC to PC option. Their prices are good too.

The whole VoIP field is running a bit ragged with most companies competing on price only. Since Skype has a good headstart, I guess it is the best VoIP client and service for the PC around. If only their client software would be a bit more resource friendly....

Voip for Windows Xp/Vista is justvoip.com. This is good provider, and cheap prices!

Another good provider voipdiscount.com. He is also very cheap. Approximately 5 cents per hour. You can pay well, you can buy a voucher. There are sending free SMS. You can use without installing programs on your computer, through a web-interface.

Instead download from Download Center, download .DEB package from here: http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-linux/
Then, open a terminal and go to download folder and type:
Code:
sudo dpkg -i SkypePakageName.deb

The SkypePackageName is the file name you downloaded.
Ex: skype.6.23.amd64.deb
and press ENTER.

if everything works, open Skype in Internet menu and be happy!
