A network with everything in it

How do you think... if someone makes a web site, simle and easy to navigate through it, and it will have evrything in it... shops, mail, free and paid hosting, a file archive with all the programms and files (pictures, music...), e.c.t.
How long will it take for one man to create such a site and who will loose the most if this site would be really created?

I think sites and companies like Yahoo and MSN will fall and other companies depending on the WWW will loose alot.
HamsterMan
It's a nice thought, but having such a cluttered unspecialized website would probably turn alot of people off. If you want to buy something from a shop for example, then you'd want to know that the site offer good service, and prices. A website like that would not look so appealing for someone that wants to buy a new top notch computer for low low prices.

And of course, this is internet. If you thought it, it already exists somewhere.

In a site with everything there would be a computers section of the shop. Thats has low low prices and high high prices. Should have all prices, right?

not even large companies like google have the $$$$ for such a system. The bandwidth requirement would be way to expensive.

I don't think those companies have a $$$ issue. They can easily pay for the bandwidth. Companies like Google practically own the internet. I don't think I can even imagine their server network.

But having it all creates a giant clutter indeed. The best way to go is like Google is doing now. Step by step they're buying up specialized companies... and integrating all those services into their own network.

Now the big question is... Who will buy Google?

Im just askin for ur comment cuz i have a here a company that wants me to make such a site... lol i am still studying at the Institute of Information Technologies (Moscow) and not so good at all this. and they already expect me to create something like that (not on frihost ofcourse, they'll give me servers and computers for this all... ) + they want me to write it in Enlish, Dutch (Netherlands) and Russian Confused
James007
All these services, one man? Really, that's harsh. If they expect one man to do such a thing, someone should give those guys a lesson in Web Development AND timing. Even if you would create such a gigantic thing, you'ld still be the only one who could handle errors etc. They should hire a team fur such things.

Yeah hiring a team is my work... but that will cost me, and thats not good.
More money = more time and work
Less time and work = less money

I dont think this would be a really big problem for 1 person, i mean I'm already finished with the downloads section and it contains around 650 TB (TeraBytes) of files (worked on it 3 months, 18 hours a day)
The real problem is to make it look really simple with all its features, thats nearly impossible

Well.. then they can't do anything without me, and that also means more money for me.

Well, you could apply a javascript framework to imitate a more familiar windows xp interface... Something like this:

http://demo.qooxdoo.org/current/showcase/#Form

It looks very familiar and things like the menu and toolbars could come in handy when creating control panels.

Just look at the Google site: javascript, cookies... to determine a user's interests, language, site history... It could save you a lot of switches, bells and whistles.

nice but not what i am looking for...
it has to be so simple that even someone who never used a computer and never was online would understand it in a few seconds, and at the same time it still keeps all the features of the site.
This company wants to OWN the .ru net and then go for all the rest and i think you can imagine, most of the russians have only started to use computers... lol i'm from The Netherlands and now that i arrived to Novosibirsk (visitin some good friends) i was paralysed for a few days, its like going from the nano age to some pre-historical world. good that they still have some people that really KNOW their way around with computers and internet
any ideas on how making it as simple as possible? (prefferebly using as little scripting as possible, plain HTML)
James007
Using HTML only? Tell me, how long have you been web coding? I hope you do know that HTML only serves as the page mark up? All functionality comes from dynamic content systems like PHP, ASP.NET, JAVA... which one are you using anyway?

To make things easy, HTML won't be enough. Easier for the user means more difficult for the coder, because you'll have to provide easy interface elements like wizards, dynamic drop down menu's...
antichrist_elexnet
for 3 years... yeah i know that HTML is a markup language (thats why its called htML...) and i use PHP MySqL and JavaScript
there's a nice question.... would you agree to write pages for $7000 a month (the price depends on you'r knowledge and speed)
im not trying to hire anyone... its just a question at what price is someone ready to sell his service

Oh so now you are one of the many many people who work for Russia and do "bizniz".

"So what kind of job do you do?"
- "bizniz"

Good luck on the bizniz, I'll put your question somewhere else as it is clearly web related.

I doubt any one will ever buy Google, Google is just too big.
