Hello Shaz,

It is an extremely interesting study. Regardless how far you go in the field, the study of human behaviour can be useful in any occupation and in our own life as well. So the pursuit is great regardless of how you fair. You need to really care about people you have to have reason and purpose for doing it other than money. Also, you need to learn to take care of self to be able to have the energy to help others.

I would suggest watching a movie called Patch Adams with Robin Williams. An excellent insight into the occupation based on a true story. In reflection, I personally would suggest to someone in the field to organize a field training exercise for all new wantabe’s.

Something like a 36 hour test placement on the street with lack of sleep and nutrition. Add fear and confusion and it is amazing how the mind will malfunction. Could be an interesting experiment. Another interesting experience in life is having a really bad relationship. It seems to be the number problem for people that leads them to human suffering and mental disorders.

Although deliberately walking in a persons shoes is not always the best solution for understanding perhaps dedicated study is and compassion. I wish you the sincerest success in your ventures.

Also you can find me sometimes in a 3d chat program called moove.com where you will find some interesting case studies. Feel free to look me up sometime. There is as well many resources on the net as well as help sites if you want to pursue helping someone, simulate practice or learn something.

Hey,
Blue

Thank you so much for you time and effort its really helped and I will check up them films. Just about to check the wiki link that you gave. I'm really glad you took the time to write all of that out to help me decide on my future =] It really means alot to me. Yeah I do have a reason for wanting to do it even if I can't make it that far i'd want to do some sort of counselling because I personally have had bad relationships, friend problems, bullying problems and I know how it feels not to have someone to help. I would just want to try and help as many people as I can regardless of the money.
I'll check out that moove.com and you look you up =]

Thanks for everything,
If you need help just ask and ill do what i can =]

Thank you,

Shaz

P.s Your name is bluedoll right? if so then i added the right person on moove.com =]

psychiatrist is a specialize doctor field. which you have be a doctor, then study psychology again and take the license, then only you'll become a psychiatrist. so basically if you want to study doctor, it'll takes 5 years, 3 years for psychology and that makes total of 8 years to become a psychiatrist. you cannot study psychiatrist without doctor license. Medical doctor, not PHD.

then after you became a psychiatrist, basically you need to diagnose patient, what is their problem. what type or disorder they had, for example bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, insomnia, depression and much more. basically you will need to study DSM-IV. a Mental illness diagnosis manual. in Malaysia, if you are a psychiatrist, then you are specialist. that mean you can give list A, B and C drug to patient. which is controlled drug. normal doctor, medical officer (MO) only can give list B and C which is more common drugs.

Anyway, not easy to become a psychiatrist.
