I was surprised. My friend and I were chatting a while ago then he told me his mother thought the "=)" smileys (written right-side-up) on his birthday dedication card were icons representing a phallus. We just laughed about it, but I'm kinda wondering, why can a lot of innocent things be associated with sex?
=D

Anything can be associated with sex; food, money, anything.
I have never thought that a icon was sexual, but...
I believe the reason for this is because we are subconsciously thinking about it almost all the time. The poeple who create these innocent icons think about it, and the people who view these icons think about it.

Wow, thats a big stretch. I can't believe someone made that connection. Sounds like your friend's mother may be a little obsessive over the male reproductive organ, or maybe she just has a wacky sense of humor?
If you think about it, this
Which is traditionally tied to the phallus, looks a lot like this:
But the latter is shorter. Maybe your pal's friend can't tell the difference? =0
