Can't access directadmin from port 2222

I'm on server two and windows xp.
I can't access directadmin through http://islamhope.frih.net:2222 whereas in the past i could.
This is quite a weird problem, because i get the strangest error message. (I can't access directadmin through either FF3 or IE7). At first i thought this might be a FF3 error, but it doesn't work in IE7 either.

When i go to "http://islamhope.frih.net:2222", one of two things will happen. Either i will get a blank page. Or i will get this:

The document contains no data.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.


I don't have a clue what this error message means. There's nothing wrong while visiting any other website (at least not to my knowledge).

IE7 simply gives the message:

You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.


So a typical 404 error message (i think).

Did i miss something? Has using yourdomain.frih.net/config/ or yourdomain.frih.net:2222 suddenly become bad?

By the way, i am able to access directadmin through http://cp.frih.net

Which means, in all likelihood, that such restriction has now been placed by your ISP.

Why would they do that?

Obviously they don't have something against frihost, but are against using ":2222" in general. Why?

DirectAdmin uses 2222, but most people don't use it hence they don't care. And some other programs also use that port, maybe some malware or p2p and maybe that's why they decided to block it.

I know when I was in university halls they just (somewhat annoyingly) blocked non-standard ports using a whitelist.

The usual suspects like POP/SMTP/IMAP, HTTP, FTP, SSH were allowed but anything *incoming* on ports it didn't recognise would be blocked.

OK for most people but annoying for those of us that do things outside of that. Annoying, the Steam ports were blocked as well so you couldn't activate any Steam games (which, granted, is also partially the fault of Valve).
