Server Side Includes (SSI) in .shtml pages?

IceCreamTruck
I believe that this is working for my frihost domain, but I would like to use this feature on xMPACT.com

Can someone help me figure out why xmpact.com is blocked from using ssi?

Normally it should bee possible to use SSI, although I haven't tested it. Does the page end in ".shtml"? If not, you need to either rename it or add a directive to parse it that way in a .htaccess file.

Hey, everything worked fine. .htaccess added.

Just curious what do you think about the following code to get rid of bots?

I've had a little trouble on my forums, and so this code looked cool and I found it while looking up .htaccess SSI commands.

What do you think?

Code:

Do you think this will do any good, or will it just be extra process usage?

If it's working fine (your website still showing up on all browsers), then it could help a bit. Serving the pages normally causes way more resource usage than this kind of filtering, so definitely no problem there.

This would stop quite a few bots, but not the ones that disguise themselves as a normal internet user with a normal user agent. Those ones are way harder to detect and it's usually not worth the effort.

Thanks, I didn't notice until now that you had replied. Still I have been using this "bot" .htaccess for a moment, and haven't had any problems.

Even testing in other browsers has not produced any strange results.

I'm going to keep it in place cause I hate bots!! Well, I hate spam bots! Search engines are ok!
