jwellsy
Are you going to watch any of the Tour de France 08?
teko
I am indeed, Contador to win!
legion
Yes, indeed. Thanks to Eurosport, I'll see all the action Very Happy . I must check the starting line-up for all teams to pick a favourite.

It would be interesting to see how the Tour will be after last year's doping scandals.
mazito
will be diferent, there wont be contador because the tour banned some teams
Wuppie
Watching the Tour is boring, but I will follow it.
nTonio
I agree with wuppie. In advance I would prefer to go and ride bike by myself, rather then flatting my ass and running my ayes.

Mountain stages aren't boring at all. At least this year, there are more than two favorites. And with Valverde having to get those almost 5 minutes, it seems the next mountain stages will have a lot of action Laughing

Watch out for 17th stage with the finish at L'Alpe-d'Huez. A classic Very Happy

Well, I followed it last year, but now I don't have time. I only know, that there are still a lot of discqalifications due to the doping Confused

Although, cycling is very fun.

I love that kind of sports. Sadly that this summer I have not much time to watch the translations because I do not stay at home for a long time Smile I go to different festivals (like Sheshory) or just walking in bussiness somewhere round the town. Last summer I didn't watch it too, because I was terribly ill. But summer-before-last was just amazing. I watched all tours - Vuelta, Tour de France and Giro and was just amazed. It is a pity that I cannot do it this time. But I try to spectate the results with the help of Eurosport internet site.

You can find videos with the summary of each stage on the official site: http://www.letour.fr/2008/TDF/LIVE/us/1400/videos.html.

Those guys averaged almost 30mph for todays entire stage.
The whole tour usually averages about 24mph over the whole thing.

Priceless

On a flat road I can only do 30mph for a few minutes,
they can do it for 100 miles.

D'oh!! So much for my prediction. Anyway things have turned out more surprising since its started.

Like yesterday when more or less the whole peleton went down that was an unreal site.

It should get interesting now that they´re going to hit the the alps in earnest tomorow and then the Alp D´Huez on Wednesday cant wait! It so close now, I think Cadel Evans though looks good for the yellow by the time they reach Paris, but the way things are going who knows what will happen

I'm sure that after tomorrow's stage with the L'Alpe-d'Huez classic finish will have the name of the Tour winner. I think it's the last chance before the time trial to get big time differences.
So, expect some interesting action.

I'm not sure if Cadel Evans will do too much, because CSC team looks very strong and certainly they will try to get a big time gap ahead of the time trial. But let's see Very Happy
Arseniy
Tomorrows stage is just a hell stage. 210 kilometers (real Marathon) plus uphills and downhills, plus today's highest mountain in all Tour - all these facts can really crush even strongest racers.
teko
well looks like the Alp D´Huez was the decding point of the tour and where it was won and lost.

Hey anyone know what the average speed was for this year? I would like to compare it with other years to see if there is any comparison with the improved drug testing this compared to say the last 10 years. It could be interesting if there was a big difference.
scotfield
Why the Tour de france participant are always dopped?

I don't understand fine
teko
I think its a bit unfair of the coverage cycling gets over doping compared to other sports. Just wait and see what happens in the olympics for example and see how many are caught there, infact some have already been caught!

I´m not saying either there is not a problem with doping in cycling either, but at least the sport is facing up to its problems unlike others sports e.g. baseball where its brushed under the carpet. Infact I think this years tour is one of the cleanest so far and I think it could be seen in the mountain stages this year. I would like to see what the average speed was this year compared to 90´s where doping was rife in the sport.
