Marketplace forum restrictions.

Urban
Hi,

I'm a regular poster on the Marketplace forum and I'd like to suggest something that would be really usefull for user like me.

I think the Marketplace should be reserved to frihosters who would have atleast 30 posts. I am suggesting this because since about 1 month, we are invaded by 5 posts users who think they are the king of the world and order us to make their requests. That's why I think you should block the Marketplace forum to user who have not more than 30 posts.

Anyways, I don't think the Marketplace is made for new members since they have found (most of them) the frihost forum by trying to get a free hosting service. Also, why would you want to go buy or offer something when you have about 20 Frih$?

It would be fun if the regular frihosters who usualy post on the Marketplace could give their opinion.

Thanks.
rvec
yeah I think you're right. Maybe only users with 50+ or 100+ frih$ should be able to post in the marketplace, but all others should be able to see it (else we'l get a lot more questions about frih$ Sad ) .

Then again, most spam on any forum comes from users with less than 10 posts, maybe they should be able to post in only the general forum till they have 10+ posts...

Yes, that's really good idea. They do just resurrection of old offers and nothing good. I explained them lots of times but there are new and new members that don't understand anything and just try to post as much as they can to receive free hosting.
You'll have to limit it by frihbucks and by posts. For example, 100-25 (the rank of Frihost Wannabe, if I remember quite right).

I see where you are going, but I believe account creator(s) check the quality of posts before they give people hosting. Earning 10 points doesn't mean that you will get the account for sure, so if someone spams in the market place or any other forum, they won't get the hosting. But it's kinda unfair to limit them to just one forum, in my opinion, as rvec suggested, because what if they couldn't find anything interesting to post in, in that forum? I know I would have had a hard time posting in just general forum when my interests lie in programming/gaming forums.

But I think that they shouldn't give any points/frih$ for posting in the market place, because in the market place we are not doing any healthy/quality discussions. It's a forum to just request/offer, you can't do any healthy discussions there, so if they do that, no new member will spam this forum.

Hm...I disagree with you Urban. Main reason is that new posters might want to participate in "design me a logo" type threads. And surely thats fine.

New users suck. Yep. But everybody starts somewhere right? The only real reason would be to have a <50 posts forum where you post till your ready for the big times Razz

Just take a look at that topic and say, is it valuable for forums and is it accords to rules of Frihost.
And every week there are about three or four such topics.
Urban
Faraz, you don't understand the problem. I don't care if they don't get their hosting or if they make poor quality posts, I just think that the Marketplace isn't useful for new users except if, like Luke said, they want to make logo or to offer THEIR services. But even if they want to offer their services, what's the point, they are NEW, they don't really know what kind of hosting quality they will get, they don't really know how to use frih$ so Frih$ are wothless for them!

The problem isn't that new users are posting in the Marketplace, all I want is to avoid those kinds of posts :

And it's just a short list of the FIRST page. I don't mind if a new user ask our help because he don't understand something, it's ok, he is new. But when a new user is posting about 20 useless posts, I think it's going too far.

I don't know about the other forums but the Marketplace would be alot better with a small restriction
and I think it's fair for everybody.

Hm...I still think I can argue my case Razz

Thats a nice list of topics - but instead of posting them here - report them! - they dont belong in the marketplace forum, so most likely the mods will deal with them if you just press that report button.

Sure, new users dont know the use of frih$...but then again I don't know the friggn use for frih$ (or rather, I consider them useless). They may, however, still want to help other people with graphics - I remember just arriving at frihost as a <100 post newbie, and BY FAR the most interesting places where the contest and marketplace forums - I could show of (and develop) my coding and graphics skills and help other users while at it - what's not to love? Very Happy

Also, all the topics you listed may be POOR, however they don't really do any great harm in my opinion. You wont read them, coz you know they are useless, and noobs wont get hosting by making them, because the admins know they are useless (!).

Perhaps users who are looking to buy services should have 50+ or 100+ frih$, but those who wish to do work for them should be allowed to post.
That would put more strain on mods, but maybe you could just have it so those who don't have more then 50 frih$ not be able to post new topics, but be able to reply to them.

I think it is a nice idea, as a new user can't pay for any services with frih$, unless they offer some other type of payment.
LukeakaDanish
Agreed, star wars fanatic!

Now the question remains: can this be done with the frih$ system?
Arseniy
Well, I think somewho can modify cash mod and forum system for that. I'm not expert in PHP, but I heard that you can edit it easily.
So all is connected with your cash as I understood?
