Is it possible, can you build your own laptop from scratch ?

Hey everyone,

I just had this thought a few minutes ago. Is it possible for anyone to build their own laptop from scratch ?

I don't mean it where you go online to Dell or Gateway and have them build you one, but instead, can you go out and buy empty laptop shells, motherboards, and build them yourself ? (No, I don't mean rebuilding them either lol). If it isn't, then I suppose I can be the first to patent that idea and make millions off of it. Razz

second, yes you can build a laptop from various states of already buildedness (that should be a word if it isnt Laughing

)

however, you run into lots of compatibility problems... their isnt really a standardized motherboard size like in desktops, or power supply, screen size.. etc ... etc... u can still upgrade proc, and ram like in desktop tho...

your best bet is prob to buy a barebones laptop from acer or someone (has motherboard, case, screen, power etc.) if you want to build your own.

I don't think so, as the space and case of the laptop differs from each other.
You may not get the correct size to fit into each compartment available inside the case...
