Web 2.0?

I've always had a vague concept of Web 2.0. Isn't it some kind of style of the internet or something of that sort? Like I think Web 2.0 tends to have bars with diagonal stripes or something of that sort...

All in all I'm just asking if anyone can give me a gist of what the true definition of Web 2.0 really is and what's its significance? Thanks a bunch!
