I think I downloaded a malicious codec yesterday. My system restore has no restore points. I am being prompted to open ASE_Setup_Free.exe from antispywareexpert.com. Is this software something I should open?

Indeed, it sounds like so. And no, you should definitley not open it.

I have used this service for downloads for years without a problem and now all of a sudden they send me a file needing a malicious codec. It caught me by surprise.
