Gimp to create blind effects

vickriz
Hi,

Im using GIMP to design my banner and lots of stuff and I'm a newbie using this.
Can someone help me how to accomplish a blind effect + fading on my banner?
I've seen some sample on the internet and I paste the link here for example.

I want to have that same effect also with a cloud background.

Hope someone could respond to this.

thanks,

Vickriz
PS: I cant find some good step-by-step tutorial for GIMP on the internet. Do you know one?

Clouds are done with fiter --> render --> clouds --> solid noise.

Fading is usually done with the gradient tool - if you want a layer to fade from visible to transparent, right click the layer and choose add layer mask, then fade from white to black with the gradient tool.

Blinds...couldn't you just draw blinds yourself? I know there is a checkers filter - maybe look inside filter --> render --> patterns - something useful might be i nthere.....

btw, your image isnt working
