NBA conference finals

Ok, so the Lakers and Celtics are in the conference finals.....back to the future I guess. And facing them are the new versions of them, the Spurs and Pistons, two franchises that have been very succesful lately. Who do you think will win these series and the NBA finals?
mazito
for the game i think Lakers vs Celtics will be the best , the history about this two franchises was big enough to make it a push in the correct directions for the game, since MJ retirement no one can take the league on his own Kobe had some issues that shrink his greatnes, and other appars that have not the necesary to be big suscesful, i mean check the roster of the celtics Garnet is a great player but is not Bird or even Parrish, he is from Minessota i cant made wolves champs so...

in the other hands with the big money in players that dont desesves, is the momentum of the NBA, i think is hard to see in the future return to the team policy against the players policy, i mean it appears that player play for money not for the game

I've stood away from NBA for a while supporting Detroit Red Wings in NHL, so my opinion is maybe not objective.
But I think, that the Celtics and the Pistons would meet in the final of the league. They are doing their best to claim, Celtics have got new top players and Lakers aren't so bright as they were.
What about Spurs, they just cannot stop such defensive and might team as Detroit.

Well, it can't be the Celtics and Piston's in the NBA finals, because they are both in the Eastern conference Smile

Anyways, one thing I find very interesting is that there are a bunch of international players on the Lakers and Spurs but not on the Pistons or Celtics. On the Spurs there is Ginobili, Oberto, and Parker, who all start or play significant roles. On the Lakers there is Gasol, Radmonovich, and Vujacic. Advantage western conference! I'm betting on whomever wins between the Lakers and Spurs to win the NBA finals. I really like the way the international guys play basketball. The Olympics should be fun this year, I only hope that all the international stars that play in the NBA go home and play for their teams, Spain and Argentina would give the U.S. superstar team all they could handle.

Doh, I'm really stupid Laughing
But I've really stood away from NBA actions for a long time... so I think you will not mention it Smile
Perspectives are not bright for Detroit this year anyway Sad

It seems as now that the Lakers are heading in the direction of dethroning the San Antonio Spurs. I'm not saying the Spurs are done, because you can never underestimate the heart of a champion. One thing I'd like to point out between those two teams is that everybody on the Spurs except Tony Parker is over the age of 30, while everybody on the Lakers except Derek Fisher is UNDER the age of 30, which shows that the Lakers' youth have outhustled the Spurs veterans in this series.

International guys? Tremendous help for LA. Turiaf (France), Vujacic (Slovenia), Radmanovic (Serbia), and Gasol (Spain) have been very instrumental. You can add Kobe to this group in a way, since he is fluent in Italian and lived in Italy before. Don't forget, DJ Bhenga is from the Congo!

I actually hate both the teams in the Western Conference. I really wanted the Jazz and Hornets to be in it and see the Celtics and Hornets in the Finals. I can't stand the entire Spurs roster and I'm not a fan of Kobe at all.

So hopefully the Celtics get that last win and they can take out the Lakers. Because if the Spurs come back I'll flip.

The Lakers and the Celtics are on a roll! I really want to see the finals .... very very exciting ...

I'll be supporting the Lakers .... they're in amazing form .... thrashed Spurs 4-1 .... that was unbelievable!

Congrats to the Lakers on going back to the NBA Finals. As for the Spurs, they've shown tremendous class, leadership, and displayed the perfect example of a model franchise over the last decade. 4 Championships in 9 years is not something easy to accomplish, so I give them a lot of credit.

I can sense a Lakers and Celtics NBA Finals, but this article pretty much blew me away. Bill Simmons (The Sports Guy) is one of the biggest die-hard Celtics fan ever, but he's thinking the Lakers will win it all!

I sense a lot of doubt in the minds of Celtic fans.

go celtics. its like the old days when them 2 teams used to dominate.... i think the celtics have the better team they have a lilmore experience on there team and more veterans and should be able to win the series

First, I want to say that I'm not really a basketball fan. I have, however, been watching the final game (Lakers vs. Celtics) on and off. The last game they had in Boston was crazy! LA was down by about 20 points or so with 8 minutes to go. They pretty much deleted that spread in the fastest way possible and almost came back to win! Very good game (even for basketball).

Now, the Lakers have the opportunity to knot this game up tomorrow (which I think they will). Then on Sunday they can go ahead by a game (which I also think they will). Unfortunately for the Lakers, they then have to go back to Boston. I fully expect the Lakers to be up 3 games to 2 when this happens, however I have a tough time believing the Lakers will be able to pull off a "W" when they have to travel back to Boston. Just my 2 cents (maybe even less than that since I don't know an incredible amount about football).

Prediction: Boston Celtics win the Championship!

Pretty old news now, but what a blowout by the Celtics. They were just the better team. Sure, Lakers have Kobe, but only having one major contributor on offense is not how to win championship. It helps to have that one person, but you also need support too...something the Lakers didn't really have.

Also, the fact that the Lakers couldn't play defense had a HUGE impact on the game and series. Boston played tough defense; LA looked like they didn't really have any urgency to win on defense. This turned into a snowball effect, which led to the 40 point blowout.
