What I would really like to see is some new Emoticons. Anyone who has ever seen any of my posts knows that I also end with "-Nick :face: :face: :face:" and it is really limited. I have seen some other forums like vBullitan that have tons of different emotes. It would be really simple to do and I am pretty sure that phpBB 2 has a feature that lets you add custom emotes. I would be up for making them too.
-Nick [insert original idea here]
Speaking from personal experience, I can say that if a forum has many emoticons there are certain people who will overuse them in every post, which can get annoying. The basic emotes in the forum are generally enough IMHO and nothing is stopping you typing *hug* or somesuch anyway.
Yeah I don't really like having a bunch of emoticons. But some new ones would be a good idea.
you can always use other emoticons with the img tag

rvec! Are you suggesting that I do extra work for my posts? Blasphemy!

You could use the bb code firefox expansion to make it easy.

*hears crickets*

Its name is BBCode v 0.5.2.2
When you're making a forum post after installing it, right click the text area, and in the menu choose bbcode --> settings to set up the 3 to 10 custom tags
then use right click --> bbcode --> custom tags --> (whatever name you gave your custom tag)
we have enough emoticons around the forums, I think.
At least, they're clean and classic
But clean and classic is so bleak. The icons look like something early Web 1.5 (the transition between regular websites and Web 2.0) Don,'t really do much and are kinda dull.
-Nick [insert dull icon here]
Has web development and online language really come to the point that without an abundance of emoticons we cannot adaquetly express ourselves?
Give me a break!

Yup.
I think it has been suggested before, with similar results as this topic.

I don't think we need many more. Just the odd one here and there as we have plenty. I think I would like to see one in between a smile and laughing, a little improvisation of the existing smile. I also would like one with a thumbs up sign. To tell someone that is really OK. Go for it!
Few days ago I am looking for this one and I didn't find it. Then I put
Some more emoticons will make me happy.

^True, there's no reason to replace the existing ones, but some new ones added in would liven things up a bit. It is always good to give your members something new to experience. Change for the sake of change might be valid as far as websites are concerned.
(Though, come to think of it, I haven't seen

used recently... There are certainly some of those from 'view more emoticons' that are used more often than those five.)
