hi, i need help. Im new to this and i want to make a forum website. What kind of software do i need to do this and can i download it free from the web.

There are LOTS of free forum systems out there. First off, you need a MySQL database. Second, you can download phpbb from http://phpbb.com for free or you could download SMF for free http://simplemachines.org
